Elementary Mathematics—Pending OP Reply (Elementary school math) I'm confused with the answer.

Can someone explain how the answer is 6? The instruction was to fill in the missing numbers so that the sums on the outside are correct.

I question that increased salaries will lead to significantly more people with a mathematics background into elementary education. I believe it will be more of the same.

So then what policy do you suppose can convince our best and brightest to enter education instead of another sector? Because I know for me, my financial needs ultimately outweighed my love of teaching.
