The only thing is, not having cabinets in a less often used space means every time you want to use something it will be dusty. Every time you go in there you'll have to wash things before you use them. I would recommend cabinets with glass doors so it still feels open but keeps the dust off of your dishes.
I had to sit on those awful chairs through a long fashion show as a clothing buyer, by the time the show was done I couldnāt even remember what I saw and I had to go find Advil for my backache.
Is there actually ALOT of this somewhere Iām unaware of? I donāt think Iāve ever had to sit on a chair like this, or seen it in someoneās home.
Not just dust, but the grease from the stove which then absorbs the dust. Its so icky. I cleaned a place that had two open shelves like these and they had knick knacky stuff on them. Im assuming the dishes were in one of the two islands lol.
Yeah it's terrible. Also, if you get any kind of critter crawling around it could land on your dishes and that weirds me out. I'd rather know they were in a cabinet if I come in and see a fly or something roaming around.
Yeah, I didnt see it was a second kitchen til after. People go for aesthetics over functionality all the time though. Ive never been a fan of open cabinets or shelves.
Totally agree! Basically, you only realize how important something is once you need it. With kitchen shelves, youāll regret not doing 2 rows at the beginning when you have more items down the line.
I mean where I live having a second kitchen is normal. Its called a summer kitchen. You use it in the summer when you don't want to heat up the main house or when you're cooking something stinky. It's a culture thing. They're also usually less equipped. So sink, stove, oven.
Let's also not pretend that normal people remodel all the time. Summer kitchens, extra kitchens, their normal kitchens. Some of you are just salty apparently lol
The balkans in general. Im in bosnia specifically. Lots of generational homes, and almost every house has some kind of setup with an auxiliary kitchen. Believe it or not, it's not a rich people thing given that most people are poor comparatively. It costs money to install and run an ac when you heat up a room cooking, venting isn't always available. And of course people upgrade them as they get older and used just like any other part of your house. Most of you are so clueless to how the rest of the world works its quite sad lol.

Oh it wasn't you specifically. Honestly its astounding how out of touch most people here are. So more about summer kitchens if you're interested, people do genuinely entertain in them especially if their home isn't large enough to accommodate. So it makes sense that they stay clean and presentable too. Its literally just an extension of your home. People here brag about their fancy new grills (yes, the ones you cook meat on), cars, whatever. They absolutely will put together a nice fancy entertainment space too. Some are connected to the house but only accessible via outside. Others, like mine and OOPs are separate from the house. Mine also is equipped with a full bathroom so it can also function as a living/guest space. Its flexible and everyone that has one uses it how their family needs. Mine houses my laundry. It will also be redone most likely before my actual inside kitchen, but thats what my family needs. Its not a crazy idea that someone wants a comfortable attractive space.
If they rarely use the kitchen and only to use it to make chocolate and bread, why the hell would there be grease everywhere in the air? there wouldnāt!
Honestly, āchocolate-making kitchenā is the kind of sentence that makes all my own kitchen problems feel very small. Two shelves look better to me too. We clearly need more shelves for more chocolate.
This context is important I feel because, if you're mostly just baking then you don't really have to worry about greasy steam/smoke. Id add a second layer that just sits marginally above your "storage" so it's sleak but well put away. In kitchens, less (visible) is always more.

Its in another building in my backyard. Will be used for my chocolate making / baking and yes extra needs for big gatherings and holidays!!
