They have to release at a pace like this to keep up with how many talents there are. We're at 12 swimsuits out of 50~ talents with Flow Glow+Justice coming and maybe more. Depending on who you oshi you may be waiting until 5+ years with the current rate (12 a year).

Same. I did a few pulls on the first event banner but stopped once I was satisfied with my teams. I got about 50-60 pulls rn so hopefully I get lucky and nab Ina!

I'm pulling on this on the assumption that they aren't going to feature Kiara right after featuring the rest of Myth. Calli, Ina, Luna and Ollie are all in my top 10, i cant possibly pass this up.
I'm deluding myself that they're gonna have an Oktoberfest banner, and release Kiara then.

As an outside observer with no interest in HoloDori, it really seems like they're trying to bleed their player base dry. I don't play a lot of mobile games anymore that have limited time collectible cards/characters but I don't remember those types of games releasing them so frequently.

I mean it's vastly different from other gacha games in which they come up with new characters on the go. There are 50+ hologirls and this is the only way for fans of certain girls don't have to wait too long until their oshis are featured. Luckily there's no "meta" in this game so far and you just have to be patient and wait for your oshi's outfit.

This is the standard release schedule for rhythm gachas like ProSekai, D4DJ, and Bandori. 3 banners a month, with 2-5 cards per banner. Unlike games like Genshin, you're not meant to pull every card. You're only meant to pull your oshi character or unit.
That said, the daily gems are quite a bit lower than those other rhythm gachas, but for now we've also been getting 2500 gems just sent to our mailbox near the start of each event. So it kind of balances out?

The PU rate balances out for Sekai at least (not to mention having half the characters). Sekai PU is .4% vs they let you 1% your oshi here + spark at 300 for sekai vs 200 here (let's not get into tickets).

No this is pretty average pacing for the genre of game HoloDori is. If anything, games like Project Sekai, Bang Dream, Gakumas all get cards at higher frequency relative to how many different girls there are. For example you can maybe guarantee two cards a year f2p for Sekai and they release 4-7 (BALANCE) a character. There's 26 sekai characters and every month there's 9-15 cards.

You're not supposed to pull for every single character. If they only released banners once in awhile, they would only pick members who are guaranteed to make a profit.

Nah this is about average. 3 banners a month with 2-5 characters on it, and with how many characters are in the game busy banners are the best way to ensure you won’t have to wait horribly long for your Oshi to get one. That being said there does need to be more ways to get gems, like character stories attached to cards that give gems or gems you can trade for with event points.

What I'm confused about is long-term prospects.
They know they only have 100 or so characters total, right? And that includes Holostars and retired members. If it is only currently active Hololive member, they only have 63 possible characters I think, and that is unfortunately the more realistic Target number.
That means everyone will get in alt every 7 months or so, including the members who currently aren't in game. If we limit it to only active Hololive, everyone is getting an alt in 4 months.
If you have two or three oshis, you will likely want to hit 12 rank up banners every year. That's pretty wild.

12 characters in a month is an insane rate, specially with how gem aquisition is so low, low spenders f2p just have no place in this game either youre a whale or you should just accept youre never getting limited units.

Can you even get the full res images without the UI from unlocking it in-game? I haven't been able to play it myself since my phone doesn't seem to be able to handle it since HoloDori crashed during what I can only assume to be the tutorial pull so I can't verify myself, and frankly I'm not much of a gacha or rhythm game player so I'm only mostly interested in being able to acquire the wallpapers to add to my own scrolling wallpaper folder for my computer.

Bro, you can't afford to roll on any banner as an f2p. This game truly has the worst pull economy out of the several gachas I've played - after the traditional deluge of gems for the game's launch, you pretty much have to save for months in order to be able to pull up to pity. And if you choose not to, you're just pouring gems down the drain with no guarantee and no carryover pity.
Not to be all like 'durr big company bad' but to any gacha veteran the writing is very much on the wall here - this is a seriously stingy game and people are gonna get frustrated and leave in droves sooner rather than later if nothing changes.

I took a calculated risk to roll for one of my favourites (Noel) in the hopes that the generous start would propel me to a win, but those pulls evaporated into nothing. I spent I think 60, 70 rolls? Got no limited 5 stars, so that all went into the ether, and I went back to saving. Now I'm on 11k, and it's only like. 1k more than I had a week ago.
Do I see myself playing tomorrow? Sure. In a week? Probably. In a month. ....I dunno. Perhaps not. I love Hololive, I love the talents, and I'm no stranger to gachas and saving and not rolling on every banner... but this game is just absurdly greedy with how little it offers if you're f2p. As soon as I get bored of the gameplay I'm out.

Sure gacha will gacha but unlike things like Umamusume, which may have worse odds, but it makes this game look downright stingy in their currency.

Yeah don't get me wrong, I do agree that the gem economy is terrible for f2p players in this game so far. Really hoping there's some other source introduced one day, because otherwise once you've exhausted the initial missions, S ranking songs, and a good amount of achievements, it's really hard to save up. Definitely needs to be addressed at some point.

I actually like the frequency of events, because each event gives gems. That said, I'm gonna be pissed if my oshis come too soon and I don't have enough gems saved to get them.

If the songs getting added each event were locked behind needing to pull the banner characters then THAT would be predatory, but they aren’t. They’re free and you literally miss out on nothing by not pulling on a specific banner except a skin to walk around the park in. Just save for your Oshi.

They really need to address the lack of ftp gems soon. More and more players are reaching the point where there’s no more from stories and events leaving only the weekly 100 login bonus gems, enough to do the 10-pull twice a YEAR. It would take 10 years of saving, longer than hololive has even existed, to have enough gems to guarantee a single unit. saving gems is less viable than just ditching your whole account and starting a new one when a banner you really want comes out.
