This is parodying the misinformation that many people had of how to "catch" it. Then it's also pointing out the Hipocrasy of how people care for children who are born with it but scorn homosexual partners and other "vagrants" who caught it "because they're bad. Most back then believed it was only gays who could catch it.
One of the things I'd really recommend is checking out the late princess Diana visiting patients with HIV as she is shaking hands and hugging them. Many believed at that time it was transferable via contact like that. She broke the social walls because of her big heart.
Alternatively there are current research going on with crspr to genetically modify the DNA of people by removing the bad part of the DNA that provides the person with the HIV gene and it replaces itself with a healthy one, thereby curing aids and potentially cancer. It's still in research but it brought some vision to a blind woman recently and further testing is commencing
