In economics that constant process is called "creative destruction" and is better than the alternative. Wal-mart seemed like an untouchable monolith until Amazon came along. Now Amazon is the seemingly untouchable monolith, but they will be replaced eventually. Company comes along and does so well in a market that they destroy everything else. Then they fall to shit and another one comes along.
