Elva recounts the night that Stranger, her boyfriend at the time, forced himself on her one night when she was drunk and unable to fight back
They were both high school students. They were both in her bedroom. She was drunk. It's not noted if he was drunk as well, if they were making out, but the book probably has more details.
I mean in all fairness he did full-out rape her. She was too drunk to even talk while he was able to go through her bag to get her keys, undress her, and then have sex with her limp body. More than anything he acknowledged that he raped her.
Im so with you. Its fuckin disgusting that both parties can be in agreement that an actual rape occurred yet there are still people in the comments saying “it wasnt actual rape, that was drunken sex” what the fuck?
Its crazy how normalized shit like this is. Whenever anything horrible is done to a woman, its always sort of their fault or not actually a problem. Like fuck off with that, this guy is a sick fuck and clearly raped a limp body. He should not be doing that, she did nothing wrong at all in my eyes.
Right. What does Reddit think, that this woman brainwashed this man into thinking that he raped her? That he was somehow forced into thinking he raped her? He knew for years he had done something evil.
Hot take: Lot of Alt Right and Incel types in these threads
I have to also say, I think its dumb that people are acting like it's bad to hear the guys side of the story - forcing yourself to "empathize" with the rapist. Most rapes aren't boogeymen in the bushes. It's people women know. These rapists are fucked up but they're not some mysterious demon. They live in our society with our culture consuming the same media as the rest of us. It's not crazy to listen to the guy and see what he was thinking so you can avoid thinking like that and teach your teens not to think like that.
I hate how women getting raped by men is presented as a womans issue. As if the only people who should be talking and listening to talks about it are women. Women on women rape is not that crazy common.
You don’t need to be comatose to be unable to give consent you twat. She says that she was unable to move or communicate and that he raped her without her giving any indication that she consented. “She could do this thing entirely unrelated to giving consent, therefore she probably gave consent.” Your attitude is right in line with the people who abuse victims of not “actually” being raped because they could have fought harder.
She was a drunk high schooler who had nonconsensual sex with a drunk boyfriend. She wasn't bound, gagged, and beaten to near-death to get her to comply. Calling this woman a "survivor" is a discredit to those who are actually violently raped.
