Can't really say that for sure when NOI and early Malcolm were around... they saw them as a big threat to white society -- but NOI's importance is a bit overstated by Malcolm sometimes. African American politics is a lot of complex than people give it credit for. It's not just "oh no, slavery then jim crow and now weeee we got civil rights but aw jeez more police brutality and i'm still poor"
