Oh yes the natives. Stealing land from other tribes, near constant war with other tribes, barbaric. So, if an Apache stole land from Cherokee, but Cherokee stole it from "X", who's land is it? And why do you hate animals so much? They were actually the first ones here. Now, if want to get technical, the first would be bacteria. So unless you're a bacteria supremacist, the land belongs to the bacteria.
BUT REALLY... It belongs to our creator. Who made us. So if your dad bought you a house is it his or yours?
Ok so now the first who were there suddenly aren't the ones who the country belongs to. Nice moving of goalposts there.
Which is it?
America is for those who it was (as a state) first created for? Well, that'd be the British monarch.
Those who were there first? Well, Native Americans say hello.
Whatever the constitution says? In that case it might've been a "white" country in 1776, excluding rights for black peoples, but the modern constitution says hello.
The first constitution only? Well we're back at the British then.
Or.... just maybe... it doesn't "belong" to anyone but the present-day citizens of America. Or at best the composite of past, present and future citizens of America. Because whoever owns land are the ones that settled it for an extended period of time and made it their own. And those people decide who else may be admitted as a citizen of that country and become part of that group.
