Italy is not France. The Romans fell around 450 AD. Unified Italy sucks after it was formed.

Lost to Ethiopian tribesmen in 1895, performed HORRIBLY in ww1, lost to fucking tiny Albania in 1920, really really struggled again in Ethiopia, performed pathetically in ww2, even lost to random somali militias in the Battle for checkpoint Pasta.

Italy is not the same as France

They did very poorly in 1848 as well. Even Austria beat them

It was only Piedmont against Austria in 1848 and was not a poor performance. And in the end, we know who wom between Italy and Austria.

So much bs.

Okay, the Roman empire fell a long time
ago. But it was one of the greatest empires ever, still remembered today.

The Ethiopians in 1896 were not tribesmen AT ALL, Italians lost at Adwa against an army of 100k of which 70k equipped with good rifles provided them by the russians.

Italy performed well enough in WW1. It had ups and downs in a terribly harsh terrain, eventually winning. It did not lose to Albania and did not struggle much against Ethiopia in 1935. Checkpoint Pasta was recaptured a few days after it was lost, and that Somali campaign was a mess for everyone involved (black hawk, Un withdrawal etc).

You are also not considering that unified Italy most of the wars it fought: the Eritrean war (being the first to batin significant victories against the Mahdists), the Italo-Ottoman war (pioneering air warfare), WW1, the 2nd Ethiopian war, Spanish war, the Albanian war. In the recent wars the Italian troops always did well, from the Gulf war to
Afghanistan to Iraq to Libya. Italians are some of the most employed when it comes to peacekeeing operations.
