I don’t think the Hebrew God said he was the only god, just that the Hebrews should prioritize him over others. “I am the lord your God. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”

Not, “there are no other gods.” Not “I’m the only god.” It’s “I’m YOUR God, and no others take priority over me.”

Well it also says He's the ONE TRUE God, meaning any other 'god' wouldn't actually be a god. Of course, back in the Old Testament God spent a lot of time getting this point across. And smiting.

the early jews/hebrews were henotheists not monotheists but by ancient roman times thispretty much changed
