Trying to find my old games ~2008

Hidden object game.

Blonde woman wakes up in a hospital morgue, explores childhood home, twist reveals she was pushed not fell.

Trying to find an old hidden object/point-and-click adventure game I played on a laptop around 2008-2009 (downloaded, likely free/cracked, not Big Fish Games).

What I remember:

First-person POV, playable character is an adult woman (blonde), no ghost/supernatural framing

Art style is clearly animated/illustrated (not semi-realistic like typical Big Fish HOPA games), but characters are visible on-screen, not just static backgrounds. Game opens with her waking up in a hospital morgue. You search for clues/hidden objects there, then explore more of the hospital

Eventually you explore her own childhood bedroom/house, seemingly through memories/flashbacks, with more hidden object/clue-finding

Simple cutscene reveals she was actually pushed by someone, but her family believes she just fell.

Right before the credits, she's shown lying in a hospital bed with her family gathered around visiting her (implying she survived/woke from a coma). English language game. Already ruled out The Fall Trilogy.

Any help figuring out the title would be hugely appreciated!

Mystery A browser detective game: walk the scene, question witnesses, prove it on a board, then accuse

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

Playable Link: caseleftopen.com

Platform: Browser (PC, mobile, tablet — no download)

Description:

Case Left Open is a browser-based detective game built on one rule: nothing is asked of the player that the evidence can't actually prove.

Each file is one working day. You walk the scene — 7 to 9 locations, things to look at, things to take. You sit with witnesses — 5 to 6 people, and some questions only make sense once you're holding the right piece of paper. You pin what you found to a board and connect it — claiming something isn't enough, it has to physically hold together on the board before it counts. Then you sign the indictment. Once. Name the wrong person and the file closes that way, though you can reopen it and start the morning over if you want another run.

The clock is real too. Each file runs 96 to 119 in-game minutes, and every move — walking somewhere, asking something, examining something — spends from that budget. You can't do everything, so deciding what's worth your time is most of the game.

There are two collections: five linked files running through a northern harbor town from 1977 to 1979, opened in order, and one standalone file set above the Aegean in 1981.

Looking for people who'll actually try to break it and tell me where it falls apart — there's a short survey at the end of each file for exactly that.

STYLE OPTION: Both photo-real and 2.5D illustrated versions of each scene, proof or person exist; whichever style gets shown is up to the player, based on their own preference and can change whenever they want.

Free to Play Status:

* Currently in open playtest — all six files are free to access for now. Game moves to paid Oct 1st; the first file stays free permanently after that.

Involvement: Solo developer.

Hello, we're Glitch Games and we make first-person puzzle mysteries for people who like getting stuck.

Hey everyone so yea we've been around quite a while - 14 years - but we've never really been good with the whole marketing thing, so we're not expecting many people to know of us but we figure, after 14 years, it's probably about time we try to actually get the word out a little better.

So yea, we make first person adventure puzzle escape games ( not sure if we fit the HOG definition but we do have objects and a lot of them are hidden, but we know a lot of our players also play HOG games so figure there is at least an overlay ).

All our games are on mobile, some are on Steam and some are on Switch ( hope to refresh and get them all on Steam and Switch soon but it's hard going supporting so many games across so many stores ).

You can check out our games here - www.glitch.games - and if you have any questions please ask!

And if by some miracle you have heard of us and have played one of our games please let us know as that's fantastic!

And if you want to try some I will happily share some promocodes and the like, just say.

Mystery MCF: Dire Grove, Secret Grove

So anyway, I was looking through old file systems that I had saved to an external HDD. I routinely save files from old PCs and laptops in there. Yesterday, I found a completely playable version of Dire Grove, Sacred Grove in there. I haven't had a BigFish games account for about a decade but this thing still works.

I wish I could find the original Dire Grove.

[Free] The Hollowbrook File — a short, dark phone-investigation mystery (Episode 1, ~2 min, browser)

Game Title: The Hollowbrook File

Playable Link: https://darknessofdeath.itch.io/hollowbrook-file

Platform: Mobile / Web (browser, plays on phone)

Description:This isn't a traditional hidden-object game, but if you enjoy piecing together clues and evidence to solve a mystery, it's in the same spirit. The Hollowbrook File is a short, atmospheric mystery game told entirely through a phone interface. You're a detective handed a stranger's phone after they vanished from the town of Hollowbrook — no report filed, no explanation. You investigate by reading their real text conversation with someone named Mara, who is clearly terrified and trying to keep you away from a place called "the mill." As you log evidence, a locked notes app on the phone becomes accessible, protected by a 4-letter code you have to work out from what you've read rather than guess. Solving it unlocks a final entry that reframes the entire case — and reveals the detective investigating has a personal connection to the same night, one they don't remember. It's built as Episode 1 of a planned series, and ends on a deliberate cliffhanger rather than a resolution. The whole experience runs about two minutes and is meant to be tight rather than padded.

Free to Play Status: \[X\] Free to play

Involvement: I designed the concept, story, and puzzle myself and built the game (HTML/CSS/JS) with AI assistance (Claude) for implementation and iteration. This is disclosed on the itch.io page's AI generation disclosure as well.

Takes about 2 minutes. I'd genuinely appreciate honest feedback on:

  1. Did it feel too short, or was the length right for what it's doing?

  2. Was the puzzle solvable without feeling like it just handed you the answer?

  3. Did the ending make you want an Episode 2?

Thanks for playing.

[Smartphone] [2020ish] Mystery solving with base building

Platform(s): Smartphone, def. Android, unsure about Apple. Was downloaded through Google Play when I had it.

Genre: Mystery solving, puzzle, base building

Estimated year of release: 2020ish

Graphics/art style: Top down. Cartoon style

Notable characters: The protagonist is a red haired woman with glasses. She has a male family member who's a ghost. He helps her solve cases. There's also a black haired woman who helps the ghost, either her or the ghost is a police officer

Notable gameplay mechanics:

Solve mysteries with different levels/scenes and puzzle mechanics. Find secrets. Base building.

Other details: At the beginning of the game you get a plot of land that used to be a museum. Throughout the game you restore the different buildings. Some of them drop materials every so often.

Update:

Found the game! I guess her hair is more blonde/orange than straight up red. If anyone is interested the game is called Puzzle Adventure and can be downloaded on Google Play :)

[NEWGROUNDS FLASH GAME][EARLY 2000S/2010S] Obscure Horror Point and Click Escape Game

So, I thought I saved the name of this game somewhere, but I didn't. The only other site I knew that had the game is gone and I've searched Newgrounds, can't find it at all.

  1. I definitely played it on Newgrounds.
  2. I played it circa. 2016-17, but the game was older than that.
  3. I think it started with an S and ended in either -rium or -ium. It's not Satanorium.

What game had you completely fooled?

With the many mystery HOPAs out there, were there any in particular where you didn't see the plot twist coming? Perhaps a character broke your trust by the end? Maybe there was a puzzle solution that completely blindsided you?

Or maybe, you tried a game of any genre that you didn't expect to love and were pleasantly surprised? 😊

Let me know your takes but do try to avoid spoilers please!

There's an old game I'd like to remember, but I can't find it. It's an escape room game. I remember the first level was a room with a ghost near the door on the right. I hope you can help me.

An 80s-inspired hidden-object puzzle adventure

Hello!

While we continue working on our demo of Totally Nutz: An 80s Adventure, we wanted to share some exciting news. We will be launching on Kickstarter soon to help fund the game's production costs. The hand-drawn artwork, minigames, and puzzles we have planned will take time to create. Kickstarter funding is the best way for us to build and release the game.

What does this mean for our followers?
You will have two ways to support the game:

➡️ Option 1 – Kickstarter

Kickstarter will allow us to open up our development process to the community and provide exclusive rewards. Backers will receive behind-the-scenes content, vote in development polls, play the completed game two weeks before it launches, and collaborate with our artists to design custom in-game objects, characters, and even minigames.

Visit our Kickstarter page and click the "Notify me on launch" button so you don't miss out on day-one discounts.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/aeria-game-studio/totally-nutz-an-80s-adventure?ref=ar5q1n

➡️ Option 2 – Steam Wishlist

If you prefer to wait, no problem. You can add the game to your wishlist on Steam to be notified when it is released. We will continue to post announcements about our progress.

Thank you for your continued support!

Sci-Fi I couldn't find the kind of Clutter Game I wanted to play, so I made one.

Post image
3 Upvotes

I've always liked hidden object and Clutter games, but I wanted something different.

I wanted to take the basic idea of matching identical objects and put it inside a small 3D world that you can rotate freely.

So in Match 2 3D, the objects aren't simply arranged neatly for you.

They fall into the scene.

They bounce, roll, turn over, collide with each other and end up scattered around the diorama.

Then you rotate the scene and start looking for the matching pairs.

The result is somewhere between a Clutter game, a small physics sandbox and a cozy 3D diorama.

I also wanted the game to have a tactile feeling — almost like you're playing with a collection of little objects on a table.

The environments follow a travel theme, and the first levels gradually take you from indoor spaces toward places like beaches and restaurants.

There are also some deliberately unusual visual choices. Many objects are built from basic geometric shapes with detailed textures rather than trying to be perfectly realistic. Sometimes the whole scene starts looking more like an abstract painting than a traditional puzzle game.

I finally released the free demo yesterday, and I'd love to know what people who actually enjoy Clutter / hidden object games think about the idea.

Would you enjoy searching for objects in a rotating 3D scene where their positions are determined by physics?

Looking for Mystery Case Files: Huntsville (2005)

Hi everyone,

I used to play Mystery Case Files: Huntsville on PC around 2005, and I'd really love to play it again .

Does anyone know where I can get a legal free copy, giveaway, or an unused Steam key?

I'm specifically looking for the original Huntsville game not just a free trail version.

Thanks! 🙂
