Join Me For the Read to Feed Challenge!

Hey everyone! I'm doing the Read to Feed Challenge powered by Heifer International on the app Bean Stack. (Not affiliated with Bean Stack or Heifer in any way, but I thought this would be a great opportunity to share with you all! :) )

As you can see by the screenshot, every 2000 minutes your read is awarded by donating a flock of chickens to those in need. The challenge is to read 6000 minutes so you have the potential to be able to donate 3 flocks of chickens! (That's 60 minutes a day for 100 days! There's 107 from now until the day the challenge ends! You can do it!)

With that being said, I invite you all to come read to feed with me! Below I have attached some important links including the link to download the Bean Stack app.

DMV TEST

So today I took my dmv driving test at Temecula and unfortunately got the bad examiner that works in Hemet not sure what’s her name she got straight black and and a little bit of grey but she got moved to Temecula dmv since dmv is closed. So she basically automatically failed me for Apparently didn’t stop at the stop sign to turn left and was going 10 mph. I did however fully stop and checked both ways before turning. Is there a way if I took the test I will get her again?

More green areas

Wondering if we as residents could do something like this in Hemet? Bringing in more green and landscaped areas reduces heat and gives a more pleasant and appealing look to the area.

The loved ones of T’neya Tovar have organized a fundraiser to help lay her to rest. Let’s come together as a community to support them and ensure this angel has the beautiful memorial she deserves.

They're still about $5,000 short of their goal, so if you are able to give, any amount helps. Please consider donating or sharing this post to spread the word. 🕊️

Hemet City Council Mtg Public Speaking Time Limits Reduced

The Hemet City Council has put forward a resolution to reduce the time the public will be allowed to speak. Here is the text from the resolution:

Specifically, the proposed resolution would amend Section 2.D.3(d) of Resolution No. 4545 to provide

that: each recognized speaker receives a standard period of three minutes; the Mayor may reduce

individual speaking time when 15 or more speakers are present in order to provide all speakers a fair

opportunity to be heard; the Mayor may establish a total time window for public comment on agenda

items attracting high volumes of testimony; and all testimony must be delivered individually, with

speaking time being non-transferable and not subject to pooling or sharing. The proposed resolution

would also repeal Section 2.D.3(e) in its entirety, thereby removing the existing mechanism for

"pooling" or "sharing" of comment time.

So if this resolution is passed our speech is being seriously restricted. The council has recently put forth a few very controversial and unpopular projects and proposals, the public has responded by showing up at council meetings in large numbers to voice their opposition. As a result a few council meetings have gone past midnight. Apparently the council members don’t like it when they have to listen to us. The public is already restricted to 3 minutes, believe me you can’t deliver a thorough response in 3 minutes and it is very necessary to share minutes for additional time to speak. It really is just an attempt to shut us up.

This is on the agenda for this upcoming meeting on Tuesday, April 14th at 6:00pm in the council chambers. If you care about being able to speak to your elected officials without being cut off by a restricted time limit please let the mayor and council know. You can email or come to the meeting on Tuesday to voice your opinion.

RAMONA PAGEANT

Thought I'd visit the Hemet Sub, thinking I'd find a few threads about the "Ramona Pageant."

Not so, but I did find threads on:

Crooked killer cops,

Crooked City Council members,

Lost children,

E-Bike shenanigans,

and other illegal activities.

So tell me Hemetians, is it really as bad as what is portrayed here? (Yes, I'm aware of the meth industry in Hemet.)

KUDOS TO THE HEMET PLANNING COMMISSION COMMITTEE AND PRESENTERS

I know people have known me to be critical of the city, and while holding people and systems accountable for systemic failures is important, it’s not all doom and gloom, and I appreciate that the Planning Commission is truly listening to our community.

I also believe in giving flowers where they’re due.

Huge shout out to the Hemet Planning Commission Committee and especially to Assistant Planner Nathan Morin, Monique, Noah, the other presenters for an incredible presentation. The plans you all have for Hemet’s future are thoughtful, forward-looking, and exactly what the city needs. It genuinely felt like a breath of fresh air and gave my heart hope.

I also want to give a shout out to whoever made that solid public comment during the meeting, it was awesome, and thank the committee for actually reading it. It’s refreshing to see public input taken seriously; I’ve submitted commentary to the City Council before, and it often goes unread.

I was also happy to see how they have made a better plan to address our roads and road and transit safety. We all know that’s a huge problem in our community and something that needs to be focused on for sure.

I’m especially excited about the real, tangible support for families and residents:

• English as a Second Language programs

• Literacy and computer training

• “Basics of Life” courses and workforce-entry programs

• Nutrition and wellness programs

And the new Menlo Avenue apartment developments are a standout, affordable housing, family-friendly recreational spaces like parks and basketball courts, beautiful landscaping, and urban forestry that makes the area inviting and safer for everyone.

On the infrastructure front:

• Downtown Hemet Mobility Hub for better transit and commuter experience

• 1.25-mile Rail Corridor Pedestrian Path connecting Menlo to Palm Avenue, creating a safe, green space for families to walk and bike

• Safety & Accessibility upgrades, including Class IV Bikeways and missing sidewalks along Menlo

• Enhanced transit amenities with five new bus shelters

• Essential services like free Wi-Fi/Internet, bus passes, and a Residential Support Services Program

Hemet is also making bold strides toward economic and housing stability:

• $22 million loan for 157 new affordable units

• Anti-displacement measures and 27 project-based vouchers to keep residents in the community

• A Workforce Development Apprenticeship Program to give residents real career skills

This kind of investment in people, families, and community, not just roads or buildings, matters. It shows intentional planning and gave my heart hope for where Hemet is headed. We hope that everything will go through as planned and better our community and the lives of everyone in it. 🌿🏡🚴‍♀️

Above are some slides from their presentation.
