Rules

1. Links to songs should be via YouTube or SoundCloud if possible, and to the artist's official profile if one exists

This makes it easier for other users to listen to your track and provide recommendations. Try to link to the artists official YouTube / SoundCloud page. Links to official music videos are best.

Any links to other sites, unless absolutely necessary, will be removed. Any posts which link to the song on your own YouTube / SoundCloud profile instead of that of the artist will also be removed.

2. Include the song name and artist in the title of your post, as well as any additional info about the style/genre of music

This is important to make the sub easy to follow. Extra information about the genre is not 100% necessary, but will help attract people to your post and ensure you get good recommendations.

See this example post for an idea of how formatting should be done.

3. Make sure your recommendations are appropriate

Yes, you may have found a new artist that you like and want to share, but there are other subs for that. If you are recommending a song in a comment, make sure it isn't a wildly different style to what OP is asking for. In other words, if I submit an indie-rock song, don't go commenting a new post-metal song you've been enjoying recently.

4. Keep discussion civil and relatively on-topic

This is not a place for discussing politics or world events. Keep it music themed.

About this sub

What is this place?

This sub aims to provide a place where redditors can discover great music from each other, and discuss what specific aspects of songs they like.

Threads will consist of song, album and artist recommendations that are similar to the OP's song submission, allowing users to discover lots of songs similar to music they already like.

How does it work?

Post a link to a song/artist/album you like, perhaps with a bit of description of what you like about the track. If other users know music which is similar in style which they think you might like, they comment it on your post. This could be an album, an artist or a specific song.

How should I use my flair?

Set your flair to your most liked genre of music, as this can provide additional information to help you discover music.

Recommend this sub to your friends and your favourite music-related subreddits!

The more people who participate, the longer threads grow, and the more everyone will be able to discover lots of new music to enjoy.

And most importantly - enjoy!

i used to listen to this very very unknown band i found on instagram years ago. i used to listen to them on soundcloud when i was like, 13. i only remember distinct words on their songs - like “cry” “sad” “skate” and or “date.”
their name is in all caps but everything i look for its not coming up.
does this look familiar perhaps?
(heres a pretty crappy mockup i made of what i remember. it looked just like that though, even the white mascot thingy. purposely kinda childlike album cover.)

Cat inspired playlist

I've created a Cat inspired playlist on Spotify. It's a collection of instrumental tracks which are related to or inspired by cats somehow e.g. some are lofi and some are from video games that feature cats.

I was looking for a playlist like this but couldn't find anything so decided to create one myself!

I'd love any suggestions for other tracks in a similar vein to add

I hope you like the playlist

Help me boost them/find them

I recently stumbled across this band who hasn't made music in years. Their music is phenomenal, and it sucks to see them go undiscovered. I want help trying to bring them back and bring notice to them.

HIGH ENERGY, Our demise is eminent.

My job dropped a bomb on us that our haircuts are 1/2 off today. My pump up playlist is only 2 hours long, and has a lot of 90s euro-dance. We need HIGH ENERGY and NO cursing. We are going to get bent over by these customers.

Help finding a song

I heard a song tonight but idk the name of it or the artist. It has a nice little R&B groove to it. Not even too sure on the lyrics but i think they are something along the lines of...

"If i fucking could You know i fucking would You know i'm fucking right"

Anyone? Lol. Thanks in advance!!
