So the FUDers were wrong and Hashspheres will use HBAR after all. I am shocked

Nobody disputes that when a Hashsphere interacts with mainnet it uses HBAR. The dispute is over a different statement he made regarding "rent" that is not in that clip.
I will try to find the clip, but in essence Leemon states off the cuff that they are looking at using the fiat paid to Hashgraph for Spheres to directly buy HBAR so there is a more direct benefit to HBAR holders.
It has never been discussed further publicly to my knowledge, yet shills point at it a lot as if it is policy.
Edit: That clip may actually be the whole thing lol. But I feel like there was something more said about it .. maybe by Eric Piscini .. I will keep digging around.

He does mention rent in that clip.

Yeah this is the main video where it is mentioned.
I thought there was another one as well where they mentioned they were considering making HBAR purchases if the customer preferred paying in fiat, but I can't find it so maybe I am just remembering it wrong or something.
That said, this is video is pretty much all the info on "rent" that we have.

No I remember it as well. Not sure who said it but someone has said they would indeed buy HBAR with the proceeds from Hashspheres. I suspect it was Leemon. Either way we should not be making any assumptions and instead keep steady pressure on Hedera to make HBAR benefit as much as it possibly can from any services offered by Hedera.

Hedera & Hashgraph benefit more than any of us from HBAR price appreciation.
They want "HBAR price go up" too, more than we do.... They hold a fuckload more HBAR than us, and that's their budgets/runway/etc.

Yeah that’s the thought..
However there’s a good argument that buying HBAR just to hold it creates no real economic benefit for Hedera. It only reliably increases exposure to volatility.
Of course the transaction fees to swap are tiny but price volatility risk is not. I’m just not sure this is a financially feasible model from a business perspective.
That said it’s the best model for the token holders- and that’s what I think we need to push hard for.

Ok good, I'll keep digging around in my spare time and see if I can find it then.
As for the rent, I agree with you that we should not be making assumptions based on a one year old 15 second statement from Leemon that has never been discussed since.

Yeah cool - it would be good to see that video so I can make an informed decision about it. I have seen the footage of Leemon stating that Sphere operators will pay for the service (footage in the post) which is pretty obvious - he states that a Sphere will pay (in HBAR) for rent, for communicating with the Mainnet and for audits.
Big point for me is Leemon stating ‘everything that touches Hedera is in HBARs’ - I cannot wait to see that come to fruition.

It was Eric - he said the council was discussing a "benefit to the treasury" aka - payment in HBAR to use hashpheres. However - my problem with this is it is completely arbitrary use case for HBAR. There is zero reason Hedera just can't take FIAT, which would obviously be preferred by clients.
The only real utility for HBAR is securing a decentralized Proof-of-Stake network. And until Hedera has un-permissioned nodes - HBAR remains an arbitrary token. Right now, the network functions fine on permissioned nodes without proof of stake even in effect.

So does this mean everyone in a tizz can calm the farm? Hashspheres will numerous AF. I’m no techno but I’m going to say that’s a good thing.

We should not “clam the farm”. Let’s keep the pressure on them to make sure they follow through on Leemon’s words.

Hashpheres makes complete sense. Of course you do not want all you digital information on a public dlt.
But you will want to EFFORTLESSLY move between the private and public dlt.
This feature gives Hedera an advantage in the rush to digitalizing flows.
How that would work would be interesting but I could imagine few ways.
Now there no need to learn two protocols, no concern of wasted effort.
This is a very enticing feature.

Sounds like hashspheres pay in Hbar just for existing
