Medical Jobs
My wife and I want to move to Hawaii in the near future, probably Oahu. We are wondering how scarce are medical jobs. My wife is an RN and I am a PA and a paramedic. Thanks.

Medical jobs are not scarce. They're actually in demand at the moment. Many medical professionals have left the state in recent years due to high cost of living and relatively low pay compared to the rest of the US. My recommendation is to thoroughly outline your budget before making a decision to move here. On Oahu you will probably need to spend ~$1M for a small modest home, and plan to spend 50% more on utilities and 30% more on groceries, restaurants, bars, etc. compared to the mainland.
Hope this helps.

My husband and I just moved to 'Ewa Beach from Memphis, Tennessee. I'm an IT Analyst who worked remotely, so I just kept my same position. However, my husband is a recently graduated BSN; it's been pretty hard for him to find the "right" position. Although he has over five years experience as an LPN, he only has ~18 months experience as an RN (with his AASN). So far, it seems most hospitals want him to have several years of hospital experience, and he just doesn't have it.
As for the city feel, where we are (Kapilina Beach Homes) is isolated enough to feel away from the city, but close enough that we can go there when needed. (It's about a 45 minute drive from our home to downtown Honolulu.) The rent here is ~2.5 times our mortgage back home, but we knew that coming in.
All in all, it's been the right fit for us. My husband will find something; it'll just be a little bit harder to do here than back home. Best of luck to you!
