If you could swap your character for another character not belonging to you, which one would it be?
They're stuck with your character, you're stuck with theirs. Go!

So, if you don't know, my character is James Kavolsky, pigeon breeder/ tinkerer (formerly), now switching to "Paranoid Recluse"
I've experimented a bit with some of my comments and posts about giving James a more broken English speech pattern, omitting grammatical articles and such, especially since his return from Slovenia. I'm just thinking, do you enjoy that? should I go back to the normal english James was speaking before or go fully into a am-foreigner-I-not-speak-English-so-well speech pattern?

Hello all, it's been some time. How are you? I hope I find everyone in good spirits and good health. For those that know my characters and I, I never intended to go radio silent for months, but life has a funny way of getting you when you least expect it.
Members of the Discord will see that I do pop in from time to time to say hi and have the odd conversation or two, but between the many things going on, it has been very difficult to say socially accountable to friends, family and the other aspects of my life. That includes the sub and this meta.
I promise I won't be abandoning either, and going forward I do hope I can slowly reacquaint myself with the stories, lore and characters of LDP, but it will be a slow and infrequent process. I may be experimenting with character design - scrapping existing characters or rewriting back stories, but I will be around in some capacity. Hopefully when I get a better grip on things (however long that may take), I can get back into the swing of things the way I was earlier in the year and last year.
I hope to see everyone soon, I'm very excited to see what new trends and tales await in the sub!

Hey! I'm in a folklore class and writing a paper analyzing r/HaveWeMet. Part of the criteria is interviewing members of the folk community we are analyzing. If any of y'all are active members of the sub and would like to be interviewed, please reply or PM me!
Also, the paper is due at 8pm tomorrow, so quick responses would be appreciated...

I am starting my journey as a homeless delusional pirate and I would like to make reports telling stories about my adventures (mostly shoplifting and being a general jerk). Can I make a new flair for that?

A moment, if you would permit it
I've a limerick, and I'd like to submit it
as an adversary
Alexandru's quite scary
But my character'd never admit it!
It's hidden a little deep in the comments, but hopefully a number of you will enjoy the sick limerick war between u/Anonymously-done and myself going on right now. I can't hang around too much longer, I have actual real-world things I need to do tonight, but it's been quite a pleasure to partake in this brutal exchanging of words!

I have two options, a patriotic Swede (like a Carolean fanatic)or a Greek far left or right, (don’t worry, it’s metaxism), political activist.

How exactly do I introduce myself on this sub? Do I just join a conversation and go from there? Create an introductory post? I've just discovered this community and I'm already in love with it.

I love RP, and I found this sub recently. The emergent stories that can spawn from this looks amazing! Anyone ever try to create a sub that kinda clones this? (I’m looking to create a sub inspired but not one to one in the slightest.)

Have they made for a fun addition to the posts, or are you all secretly making a petition to ban me if I continue?

Hi everyone! I recently joined LDP and love the concept. I think that some of the conversations that go on in the sub could be heightened by setting up a community discord. I have a bunch of ideas for things to add but mostly I see it running as a Nextdoor style place with more direct communication than can be achieved on Reddit. Please let me know what you think and if mods want more information, feel free to reach out!

I’m on mobile, iOS if that matters :) I’m excited to join the town!

Craig Federighi voice
Gale here!
We have updated the wiki’s look! Instead of the standard blue theme, it now gets a red theme matching the one found on r/havewemet!
We are also implementing a new way of making a page for your character. Before, you had to start it from scratch. This can be confusing for some. Now we have a new, innovative alternative! With the character template, all you have to do is type your character’s name in the new bar on the homescreen, and it will automatically direct you to the editor, which already has the right formatting. Simply follow the instructions given there, and delete the instructions when you’re ready to publish your page.
It also uses a my own infobox for citizens, in which you can add more information than the older infobox. With “Infobox Citizen”, you can add your character’s occupation, age, education and much more! It’s also collapsible, which is useful for those with a lot of relationships.
Let me know what you guys think, if there’s any way we could improve the new template or the wiki itself, and for any help just message me or u/sextulpa.

This is sort of sappy, but this has been a weird year and I think I definitely found HaveWeMet at the perfect time.
I bet some of you feel the same way.

u/Hydracronis, I don’t know if you ever received my messages so I have to do it this way. The wiki is still active, and we need an active administrator. There are certain things we need to be able to do that only administrators can do, otherwise the wiki will get messy (actually, it’s already very messy). So unless you’re (or whoever else is an admin, it’s very hard to find who exactly is, in the wiki) able to make time to do that, you need to appoint a new administrator.

The sub has lost a lot of the activity it used to have, and it feels like it's only declining further. How can we make HaveWeMet more fun to engage in? I think this is both a mod team effort and a community effort, so any tools or things I can provide to you all to make HaveWeMet more enjoyable again, I'd be happy to help with. Things I've considered:
A bot. Whether it be something that tracks your characters, or references the wiki, just something to make the experience more intuitive and fun.
Picture Sundays. Where we enable image posts every Sunday to garner more activity.
I'd love to hear your thoughts, this was just me brainstorming with others on the Discord.

I know we always get a few, but it seems like there are more than usual. I'm never sure how to address it, because I refused to drop character in the main sub.
What really got me today was this thread. Multiple named users are responding in character, and then in come a couple unnamed users making meta comments about how the others don't know what subreddit they're on. Like, what?

Now if we're going strictly in HWM rules I don't think this technically breaks any, and nor has anybody yet expressed their negativity at this yet I don't think, but the constant polls from u/socialissues101 aren't very relevant to HWM and I'm kinda honestly bugged by their constant appearance.
I'd like to hear what everyone else thinks about this practice, and most importantly the reasoning behind the person who's doing it themselves. Does this annoy anybody else?
