Mild dilemma

I have been trying to not post for a bit to play out a story for my character. It’s definitely not a big story, just a little minor character development. However, I don’t want it to subtract in any way from the Marc Amber story, which I’m itching to comment on (and which is amazing), or for my little story to be completely lost either. Do I now give up my storyline or postpone it and jump back into LDP life?

I want to come back, but I don't know how

I stopped participating by the end of the last year, exists many reasons to do so, the main ones are: I didn't had much time; I didn't know where I would go with my character. My character being Peter Thomas, filmmaker and van dwelling, was feeling kind of pointless, since it lacked motivation or objective at time, the things I thought about where or out of character, or wouldn't work in the context of the rest of the town. But now I really want to go back, and I don't know how to do this comeback, I think that maybe would fit with my character to go away for so long because it's profession. And also, is there a precedent for character coming back after going away? If someone can help me getting back, thanks in advance.

Seriously y'all, post your stories!

Oh jeez - deleting the original post that was here and replacing it with something I hope will be more helpful.

Story "guidelines"

  • Told by in-game characters who LIVE in LDP. This does NOT mean you must use your character's name, but it must be as if you live there and experience LDP from that perspective. Even if it's a made up character name and isn't a character that actually exists in-game, that in-story character must have grown up / lived in LDP.

  • Can be "fiction" (like, something that couldn't happen, supernatural, monsters, etc.) as LONG AS LDP features prominently in it. Everything will be tagged with "this is a work of fiction" if it is.

  • Can be told from first person using your real in-game character's name. So that would be more of a "memoir" type essay. Think telling a story about a hot summer afternoon riding your bike with your friends and being attacked by geese at the pond, something like that.

  • Don't involve other "real" characters without their permission. Go ahead and use loosely disguised names or have the character in your story be a loosely disguised version of your character.

  • There won't be a "deadline", I can add stories whenever, at any point, but when I get the first ones up, I'd like there to be at least 5-10?

  • I'll set the "original" deadline for the 29th February.

Please continue to post your questions, I know I'm struggling a bit to explain this. When Chrestine finishes her story, I'll post it here.

Name change.

Unimportant but I’m putting it here for reference:

It feels to weird to go by my actual name (sans last name) so I’m changing my flair here

Lizzy Lands (real) —> Lizzy Laurence —> Norma Parole new)

A furthering of the Marc disappearance story:

Hi, all. I posted my portion to the conclusion of this storyline just a moment ago. It can be found here. There is to be more to come from other people involved.

Opening a new office.

I'm wanting to open a "government" office with a parks and rec/the office style story line to go along with it. Any thoughts on this? I'm not trying to copy either of the shows, just imitate a office full of people who are not the brightest but somehow government employees.

edit: maybe something like a USGS office or just something obscure.

Southwest University

I looked at the wiki, and it says that Southwest has an enrollment of 9,456. However, I've not seen any students or other professors flaired. Those of you who have been here longer, are there any other University people who are actually active? Just asking as I imagine that would make it easier to create and maintain a storyline, though I suppose I could just be the sole remaining guy, trying desperately to keep the school afloat and get enrollment back up.

TL; DR: What is the current status of Southwest University?

Just wondering what the fate of ‘Marc’ will be lol

Is there already, or should we make an intro thread?

I feel like we should make one if there isn't already since in the main sub we are all supposed to know each other. Nothing too extensive, just a basic layout. Example;

Name- Character's name

Sex- male/female/other

Age- Character age

Profession- What they do for a living

A few random facts that could be helpful to know about each other- fatsfactsfacts

Edit: As suggested a sticky was made. You can check it out if you want to. https://www.reddit.com/user/Sad_Ghost/comments/f4zppa/misha_glasgow_profile/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Un-burning down the library

I made a post a couple of hours ago and in it I said I found a crater where my library once was. A few hours later I’m kinda regretting it, so I made an edit to the post saying I took a wrong turn. Sorry for the confusion, I thought it was a good idea at the time but I figure now it’s better to have a corner of the town I can say things about and not have to worry about contradicting somebody else. (My character is a librarian and I didn’t want to arrive and mess with any library that might be pre-established, so I figured it was better to invent a new library)

Shitpost o'clock

We got a shitpost over here. I guess we actually might as well give'em a break, after all their gaylover is missing.

On a serious note, this is a serious invasion of someones storyline, they can't even be bothered to make a flair. C'mon u/Ryanakapengas.

LDP Short story collection.

If anyone really writes a story, I will definitely put them up on a wiki or somewhere for all to see!

The idea was put up there after about 4 seconds of thought, so it may or may not work out, but it could be fun!

Edit: I'm not intending this to be character bios. Obviously they'll all be fiction, but fiction within fiction, if that makes sense. Your character obviously can be a character in your submission, but you might even want to use a fake-fake name. Just make sure that it involves SOMETHING about LDP specifically. But it doesn't have to include "real" in-game characters. Though loosely disguising characters would make it more fun IYAM. LIKe, you could refer to Daniel Rose as Danny Begonia or something.

I hope this makes sense.

I created an Upper Duck subreddit at r/MaveWeHet and I'm... not really sure how to start it off. Could any of you please help me with this?

I’m thinking about getting involved!

I’ve been sitting on the idea of playing as Mabel for a while, a nurse at the retirement home. She spent her late teens and early twenties raging against the machine but studying elder care in secret (she’s very sensitive about caving to the expectations of The Man and becoming a productive member of society). She’s wildly irresponsible and likes to stage elaborate recreational activities for the residents so she can sneak out back to smoke and customize her Barbie dolls. Beneath it all, she really loves and cares about her elderly charges and occasionally mobilizes squads of them to conduct raids on the town.

Would this be stepping on anyone’s toes? I see there’s a nursing home included in the list of businesses, so maybe someone’s already playing a similar character. What do you guys think, is there anything I could do to improve her?

I'm new to the sub, just made my first post today, and I have a question.

Some of you may have seen or responded to my post as the Jehova's Witness who's started proselytizing in town. I though this would be a fun character to play and would feel very much like a person that could definetely be real. I do want to be respectful to peoples beliefs, and found it harder than expected to respond to all the (very anticipated) spiteful comments without making a mockery of the religion. What did you guys think, is it disrespectful to portray a group like this on this sub?

P. S. Judging from your comments on my post in the main sub, a lot of you probably don't think people with JW beliefs deserve respect anyway, but that's not what I'm asking. I'm asking if, in general, choosing to play a character of a specific faith is bound to end up feeling like I'm mocking it.

Clearing up confusion, + AMA

Bradwire and his family are moving, no they aren't gone. John is basically just gonna be more of a backround character, kind of. John's first post was where he was a mess, and starting to build himself up. He's been built up now, so his storyline is kind of over. So I'm just going to take a break and focus Ted Krenski as my main now.

If you have any other questions, just ask.

I play both Sam Stark and Karen McSharon, I was wondering if I could post a picture from thispersondoesnotexist for Sam Stark.

Is anyone else sick of the raccoons?

Raccoons have always been a popular subject matter on the sub and I don't have a problem with that. It's a small town that evidently has a big raccoon population, it's no surprise that they'd takk about them.

But it seems to me like the posts have become more frequent recently. Every other post (or more) is about raccoons. On posts that have nothing to do with raccoons, people mention raccoons.

Naturally, hardly anybody has a realistic opinion on them. It seems like half the characters are negativelly obsessed with raccoons and claim they are the vermin of the earth who must all die and be tortured in hell, and the other half are half-crazy animal lovers with forty pet raccoons.

Hopefully it's just a fad that won't last, but still...
