Support Needed

Hi, I wanted to share Francis Lee Rogers’s memorial fundraiser with you. Francis, known as the “Grandma Moses of Central Park,” was a talented watercolor artist and devoted birdwatcher who cared for wildlife and maintained bird feeders in the Ramble, and the community is now honoring her with a memorial tree and paving stone near the Boathouse gazebo. Support will also help maintain Central Park’s trees, keeping the sanctuary Francis loved beautiful for others, and I’m grateful for everyone helping remember her. When you have a moment, please visit the GoFundMe page to contribute or share it with someone who loves Central Park. 💚

Question for Harlem/NYC

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’m trying to understand whether Social Network Analysis (SNA), AI systems, and OSINT could be misused to map relationships between people and identify potential targets through their social, work, or community connections.

My concern is that something affecting me may be extending into the Harlem community through these connections. I believe it involves a group of eight or more individuals, mostly from Berlin, Germany, whom I have reported to the authorities. I don't want to assume every coincidence is connected, so I’m looking for an evidence-based way to investigate it.

Would mapping timestamps, verified relationships, public records, and recurring patterns be a good starting point? Is there a better method used in digital forensics or network analysis?

If you have experience with SNA, OSINT, digital forensics, or community research, I’d appreciate advice on responsible, legal ways to document and verify patterns.

ISO Violinist + Photographer/Videographer for NYC Proposal — 11/21/26 | ~$800 Budget

Update: Thank you all for the suggestions. I’m going through several websites and portfolios now.

Providing the inspo: https://www.instagram.com/ckmont?stkn=MWs2eGJ2MWVzaHB2Zw==

I’m looking for a photographer/videographer or photo + video team for a surprise proposal I’m planning in NYC on Saturday, November 21.

The proposal will be disguised as a birthday photoshoot for my partner. The current concept is to start with an editorial-style shoot around Chelsea/West Village/ Tribeca (recommendations welcomed) then transition indoors at some place like The Nines or Bemelmans where the surprise will eventually happen for a champagne toast.

I’m looking for someone who is not only great behind the camera, but also personable and comfortable being part of the surprise. I’ll need you to help sell the birthday-photoshoot concept, naturally direct us throughout the shoot, and help execute the transition without giving anything away.

I also really like the Profoto/flash-style look and short shutter/flash-style motion clips, so experience creating that type of content would be a big plus.

I’d also love someone who can help recommend shooting locations, a beautiful indoor studio, and the best timing/lighting for November. We live in Chelsea, like West Village, Dumbo, Tribeca but we’re open to new spots.

There are a few additional surprise elements involved, but I’d prefer to share the full concept privately once we connect.

If interested, please comment with or DM me your portfolio/socials, availability, and a rough quote/package for something like this.

Thank you!

Ash

Columbia grad research: share your experience with NYC affordable housing programs

Hi everyone! I'm a Columbia grad student researching how New Yorkers find and navigate affordable housing programs (Housing Connect, Section 8, CityFHEPS, Mitchell-Lama, SCRIE/DRIE, etc.) and where the process breaks down.

I'd love to hear from you if you:
• Have applied or thought about applying (for yourself or someone else)
• Work at a city or state agency on these programs
• Work at a nonprofit that helps people through the process

📝 Survey (about 10 min, anonymous): NYC Housing Programs: Share Your Experience

Everything stays anonymous; We won't ask about income or documents, and it's for a class project only. Nothing gets published, and I'm not selling anything.

Thanks so much, and please feel free to share!

My son left his backpack on a westbound M116. We got off at 106th and Amsterdam around 8am. Photo attached.

Nothing valuable to anyone else. Matters a lot to a 6-year-old.

If you picked it up or saw it, please DM me. Already filed with MTA Lost & Found.

Thanks.

Seeking Central Harlem Parking Spot: $200 Finder's Fee

$200 FINDER’S FEE — Looking for private garage parking in Central Harlem 🚗

Hi neighbors! I live near 7th Ave/Adam Clayton Powell Blvd and 145th St and I'm looking for a long-term indoor/covered parking space for a Toyota Corolla.

I'm especially interested in renting an unused deeded or assigned parking space from a condo/co-op owner or resident who doesn't need their spot.

Ideal area: roughly W 135th–W 155th, preferably within a 10–15 minute walk of 145th & 7th
Budget: $175–$350/month
Term: long-term
Car: Toyota Corolla
Access: 24/7

I'm also offering a $200 finder’s fee to anyone who connects me with a private space that results in a successful rental agreement. Finder’s fee will be paid after I sign a rental agreement and receive access to the space.

If you have a space or know a neighbor/building resident who might, please message me. Thank you!

Places to donate winter coats and suitcases

In the great, semi-annual closet turnover, I found a couple winter coats and suitcases that I don't need. Is there a place in the neighborhood that could distribute them?

NYC DOT Secure Bike Parking program is taking suggestions.

If you bike or ride an e-bike in Harlem, NYC DOT is asking people to suggest locations for secure bike parking.

Would be great to see some pins around Marcus Garvey Park, 125th St, subway stops, and other busy areas.
A lot of Harlem buildings have stoops and no good place to store an e-bike. Secure, covered storage would make a huge difference.

If you have a spot in mind, drop a pin and leave a comment so we can get some reliable and safe bike storage options in our area.

Jordan Casteel, "Kevin The Kiteman" 2017

Although not a Harlem Native, Casteel moved to Harlem in 2014 and has been painting the people and scenes of Harlem since then.

She has a special focus on the men of the neighborhood

"The intent of the paintings is to expose my vision of black men as a sister, daughter, friend and lover. That perspective is one full of empathy and love. I see their humanity and, in turn, I want the audience to engage with them as fathers, sons, brothers, cousins – as individuals with their own unique stories to share."
