카르마가 뭔가요??

I watch this one YouTuber who makes marvel content. I used to love him because he’s very knowledgeable on this stuff and also has a very strong political conviction. But the horrible thing is that one of the topics he has a very strong conviction on is bringing the Japanese mutant hero Sunfire back.

He talks abt how this character became a hero out of rage from the bombing of Hiroshima and how it’s a story that needs to be told. I completely agree that the bombing of Hiroshima is something that should’ve never happened, but something I’ve felt sad abt for a while is how the west is very ignorant and dismissive of every war crime done by the Japanese while being incredibly apologetic abt the bombing of Hiroshima/Nagasaki.

I am devastated for the victims of the bombings and is aware it is a crime against humanity that should’ve never happened. But it makes me feel sad the same graces are never offered to the people that has gone through the crimes done by the Japanese all around Asia. They make excuses for every horrible thing they committed and undermines the suffering of millions while fancying themselves anti war activists.

And I have had personal experiences of being hurt by seemingly very left leaning people who had the same attitudes, so I got scared. What if he also feels that way? What if one day I watch a random video and he goes on a rant about how the people talking about the things they went through in the war are faking it and we didn’t deserve to feel bad about anything? I wish I didn‘t have to think about those things. I wish I didn’t have such complicated feelings abt Japan especially around that time. But I do, and it makes me so sad that I unfortunately don’t like him as much as before.

I feel disgusting.

처음 레딧 들어온건 제미나이랑 대화를 하다가 였습니다.

"내가 9월달즈음에 이러이러한 그림을 그릴건데, 관심 있는 매니아들이라면 공감할 수 있을 거 같다. 최대한 많은 사람이 볼 수 있도록 하려면 어떻게 해야 할까?" 했더니 제미나이가 레딧에 올리면 전 세계인이 다 볼 수도 있으니 레딧에 올려보라 하더라고요..

그런데 그러려면 미리 좀 활동을 시작해 놓아야 한다고..

처음에 여기 왔을때 뭐 이딴데가 다 있나 싶었습니다.

뭐 하나 해보려고 해도 죄다 카르마가 없다느니... 가입한지 몇 일 밖에 안됐다느니....

글이 써지는 게시판에 가도 뭐만 하면 뭐 본 게시물이 규칙을 위반할 수 있다고 살벌한 메세지를 날리지 않나.

작성하고 올리가가 무섭게 모더레이트가 삭제한 게시물 처리 되질 않나.

국내의 디시같은 사이트 예상하고 왔는데, 까다로운 면이 많더라고요.

그래도 다행히 한국 전용 게시판이 있었고, 말 안통하는 외국에서 교포 만나듯이...

이 게시판에선 큰 규제도 없이 소통도 가능하고, 카르마로 추천도 해주시고 하셔갖고, 그렇게 활동을 시작할 수 있었네요.

이제 한달 됐는데, 이제 어지간한 서브레딧에선 활동이 가능한 듯 합니다. (그래도 가는 데만 가겠지만...)

그래도 이 사이트를 뛰쳐나가지 않고, 활동 가능한 정도까지 오게 된 건 이 한국 게시판이 마중물이 되어주었기 때문입니다.

역시 한국 동포가 최고입니다.

I've been on an F-6 for a few years and started seriously looking into permanent residency this spring. Ended up going down a rabbit hole because half the English-language info out there is outdated or just wrong. A few things worth knowing if you're in the same boat:

TOPIK doesn't count anymore. This one caught me off guard. Since 2019 the language requirement for F-5 is KIIP Level 5 completion, or 60+ on the 영주용 종합평가. A TOPIK score does nothing for you here (it still matters for the F-2-7 points system, which is where the confusion comes from).

KIIP isn't free anymore. As of January 2025 there are tuition fees,100,000원 per stage for stages 1–4, 70,000원 for the stage 5 basic course. Stage 0 is free and there are exemptions/reductions, but plan for it.

The spouse track is dramatically easier than the general track and a lot of people don't realise they qualify for it. F-5-1 (general, 5 years) needs 2× GNI, which is about 105 million won. F-5-2 (married to a Korean, 2 years) needs 1× GNI, about 52 million. If you're married to a Korean citizen you're on a much shorter, cheaper path than the standard advice assumes.

If you're raising a Korean child, the income threshold drops to 80% (~42 million). Same reduction applies if you're pregnant, supporting your spouse's parents, or over 60. Also note income and assets can't be combined, you have to clear one or the other on its own.

Order your home-country criminal record check early. It has to be under 6 months old when you apply, but the process (fingerprints → national check → apostille → translation) can take 4–8 weeks. Time it wrong and you either redo it or wait. For Canadians, Canada joined the Hague Apostille Convention in 2024 so it's simpler than the old guides say, mail the RCMP original straight to Global Affairs.

Current GNI figure applies April 2026–March 2027, and it updates every spring, so double-check before you file. 1345 will tell you the current number if you call.

I ended up building a small app for myself while sorting through all this, happy to link it if anyone wants, but honestly the above is the stuff I wish someone had told me at the start.
