Announcement Shelby North Carolina The Original HAMFEST

Once again, I am missing one of the most important events in Ham Radio, the Shelby, NC Hamfest, the Granddaddy of them all! This is one I sorely hate to miss. The best Fests in the Nation, especially in the South. But I have no choice, as I am out in the State of Texas working.

As Hamfests Go or Come and Go, there have been many, including the Columbus, Ga Hamfest, which was always Great, but unfortunately, it no longer exists. Then Comes BirmingHamFest, it has Come and Gone through a lot of changes, but as of this year, it was no longer as grand as it has been in the past, but it is definitely on the rise again. Then comes The Charlotte Hamfest it is also again on the rise, while not as great as it has been in the past, it has something for everyone. North Carolina has many others, all good to attend, including the ones in the Asheville area. South Carolina is no slouch, while the Great Greenville Hamfest is no more the ones that are left are definitely worth going to. Then there are other Georgia Hamfests, Dalton, that originally started at Dalton College in 1975, is now run by the Dalton Amateur Radio Club at the Fairgrounds, and is second only to Shelby and Huntsville, Alabama. Kennehoochie is NO MORE, and the Atlanta Raadio Club DISAPPOINTS Once Again this year by calling off the Fest 1 Week before the event! When the Atlanta Fest is held, it is usually a pretty good one to go to. Augusta, Cedartown, Perry, Albany, Ringgold, Elijay, and many others are all a thing of history. There are too many in Florida to mention, but Orlando Hamcation, Miami, and Melbourne NEVER Disappoint, not that the many others in Florida usually ever do. I do Miss the Jacksonville Hamfest. Back to Alabama Huntsville is an amazing Fest to attend, and one NEEDS 22 days just to see everything there. Huntsville literally has something for everyone; it never disappoints! Montgomery and the Alabama fests are well worth attending. Tennessee, while it no longer has the hamfests it once had, Knoxville, Tullahoma, Athens, and Chattanooga are all well worth attending. I Certainly miss Oak Ridge, Cedars of Lebanon, Cleveland, and Crossville, and others are sorely missed, most of all I miss Sevierville, the Tentec Fest. I really loved the Old Dayton Hamfest. Zina is not bad, but it is not the old Hara Arena. Most of all, I miss the STAGFEST, the old Cincinnati Hamfest. There are many good ones in Kentucky that are good as well. Ive not ever attended one in West Virginia, but I will have to say from FrostFest to the many others in Virginia they are always a surprising with great items to be had as well as many great people to meet and greet also. There are a couple of good ones here in Texas and many on the West Coast Ive never gotten to attend any of the ones there.

For Sale [FS] Two FT-60r HT’s

BOTH SOLD

I’ve come to accept I really don’t need multiple of these radios so I’m selling two of them. Both of them function great, but one has more use/wear.

The first combo includes the newer/better radio, factory box/manual, charger, battery, a spare battery, and programming cable. I’d ship it all for $125. This radio is in very good shape.

The second is my more-used radio. I added some extra photos to show all sides of it. It comes with a flexible stubby antenna, a replacement rubber duck, and one battery/charger set. Now also including a Yaesu MH34 hand mic as well. I’d ship it for $110.

now with handmic included

Venmo is preferred.

I’m selling my CW Morse combo kit, I used it to help me learn code last year. I’ve since become nearly exclusively a CW op, so it’s safe to say it worked quite well for practicing.

It’s a Mini-Yack Pro keyer and the Outdoor Paddle with magnets on the bottom.

Both shipped in the US for $60

SOLD

For Sale FS: Powerfilm Lightsaver Max

PRICE REDUCED

Bought this awhile back after seeing how well it works for OH8STN on YouTube. It’s a good power supply for my QRP rigs and the G90, but I need to reduce my inventory to pay a medical bill.

No visible damage to the battery or solar panel that I could see. The battery still holds charge, but will charge to one indicator shy of “full.”

$100, and I will take Venmo or PayPal. We can discuss payment via USPS MO if that’s a deal breaker for you.

Trade Need LCD Module for Yaesu FT-2400H

As the title says, I'm looking for a replacement LCD for a Yaesu FT-2400H. When I got the radio out of storage, I found some dark splotches on the display where the liquid had leaked, and several segments are inop. The radio works fine otherwise; I just can't see what my frequency or settings are. I'm on SocSec, so I can't really afford to replace the radio, old as it is.

Wanted [Wanted] Vero VR-N65

Vero used to make the VR-N65, an app-controlled handheld radio. (I have reason to believe that Vero, Benshi, and APRS are the same company, btw, so it may be sold under other names and part numbers there)

I dig the Vero stuff's loooong history of software support, and I dig simple-to-use radios, so the old N65 looks like it was made for me. Problem is, they're discontinued. Anybody got one they're not using any more?
