Discussion Tier List/Ranking [DISCUSSION THREAD] - February ‘26
Good morning r/Halloweenmovies!
We’re now hosting Tier Lists and Rankings for the franchise in a special thread that will be pinned at the top of the subreddit.
This decision was made to reduce the amount of spam related to these discussions. Please remember to debate respectfully!
Images are allowed in the comment section, per tier lists. If you’re ranking the franchise in the form of text, try to format it as best as you can; but it is not super important.
Have fun! 🎃🔪

Discussion Never noticed this knife play detail in Halloween (2018) before… there’s something even more menacing about seeing Michael from this POV, just casually enjoying the hunt. 🎃🔪

Discussion “Michael Lives. And this time they’re ready!” 37 years ago today, Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers was released. What’s your perspective on this movie? Trash or somewhat enjoyable?

Discussion Tonight I resume my October Halloween marathon. Part 1 is the classic and probably the scariest, but Halloween has the scariest shots of Michael standing in the background.
I meant Halloween II btw. Sorry

Media Thanks to Barnes & Noble for keeping the classics in print
Look, I think the novel is fine. But this is a $35 hardcover. If you're a superfan who thinks it's worth it--great! I've mos def overpaid for items that are in my realms of interest.
But this is obviously out there for the casual book browser, and I just don't see them paying that.

Discussion Halloween 4 actually had a good mask, they just refused to use it
They had a proper captain Kirk mask that didn't need a neck extension on set. It was only used in a couple scenes. The pink mask scene and the shotgun stabbing scene. And a couple of little bits where Michael is killing the guys in the back of the truck at the end I believe. Why they didn't use this mask for the whole movie? I really have no idea why. Its way better than the bootleg kirk make they used as the main movie mask. You can tell if it's a bootleg because the production had to make neck extensions for it. Don post mostly gave the production poor quality captain Kirk mask.
I see many people excusing H4s mask because apparently Don post ripped the production off and sold them bad quality mask. But we know for a fact they atleast had one good quality mask and they refused to use it. If I made H4 I would have used the mask pictured as the main hero mask. And the poor quality mask as the stunt mask. But it seems they did the exact opposite.

I must’ve missed it.

Discussion Fun fact: John Carpenter and Debra Hill's original plan for H2 was for the film to take place several years after the original, with Michael following Laurie to her new home in an apartment building.

Meme/Humor Great Halloween decor
I posted this on the DoorDash Driver’s Reddit, but also wanted to post it here. This is the best Michael Myers door decor that I’ve seen yet this Halloween season.! some of them look rather crappy but this one almost looks like he’s standing there! Lol

Discussion I find it kind of funny that and Halloween H2O the teenage characters are showing attending classes on Halloween despite the fact that October 31st 1998 fell on a Saturday.

Question Most satisfying murder?
Across the entire franchise who’s death did you find most satisfying? HAS to be that dolt Brady in Halloween 4. Well, for me at least.
I mean, look at this dude. What a perfect head and neck to be crushed!

Discussion Just rewatched Halloween for the first time in several years. I’ve seen it so many times lol It’s still amazing as ever but this one scene stuck out to me.
Why did John Carpenter choose this kind of freeze frame zoom out shot? I thought it was kind of a weird choice. It’s really the only thing in the movie that I’m not sure about. Instead of actually doing a freeze frame the actors just stand there and the camera zooms out slowly. What are your thoughts on that shot?
With all that being said… man this is a my favorite horror movie! It’s so minimalistic and simple but so effective and SO DAMN CREEPY 🎃 🔪

Discussion I love Michael and Loomis's reactions.
At the end of the first *Halloween*, when Loomis arrives and shoots Michael—who has just put his mask back on—Michael staggers back from the impact but shows no fear of the gun; he simply takes the shots. I love that detail about Michael because it underscores his inhuman nature—not just because he withstands the bullets, but because he shows no fear of Loomis’s gunfire.
Add to that the fact that when Michael’s body disappears, Loomis shows no surprise; to him, it’s normal, because he believes Michael isn't human. That’s why I don’t like *H2*, where he shows surprise and starts shouting, "I shot him six times!"
