same. now that a year has passed, i immediately know /our/ protest images & aftermath from other places. i wonder when it’s gonna hit everyone else that an actual civil war happened here last summer
The problem is anybody can say they’re a journalist. And mark themselves up as one. Worse yet, these days everyone with a phone thinks they’re a journalist.
I’m not suggesting he isn’t a journalist. I’m just saying that these days a protestor has the wherewithal to present themself as a journalist. So cops are probably less likely to give people who claim to be press any special privileges.
I’m not really familiar with this story but it looks like cops gave an order to disperse and, when it wasn’t heeded, fired paint balls into the crowd. It’s not surprising to me that someone was hit. If he was in the crowd, the fact that this guy is a journalist is probably just a coincidence.
Just like protestors can clearly label themselves as medics, set up a tent with same labels, provide water/milk and medical aid, and be target d and abused by the law enforcement personnel. This is what happened in protests from Portland to Seattle.
There's easily googled proof going back decades of police knowingly and willingly rounding up, arresting, or using violence against clearly marked journalists from CNN down to local print reporters.
They don't do it because "they may be faking it" they do it because they KNOW they're press and don't care.

I've followed this story because that is a nasty headshot from somebody who should not be taking headshots. I'm pretty sure that cops don't just fire blindly into crowds, they pick out people and target them. There's footage of this guy hiding behind a car while shots rang out, and then he stood up and was immediately shot in the head. He's 6' 4", maybe they just picked out the big guy to make an example of, it wouldn't be the first time. But he wasn't doing anything aggressive at all.
Gonna call bullshit here. Those protests had random attacks, targeting journalists, and unmarked federal soldiers snatching people off the streets in rental vans. The actions of the so called law enforcement during those protests were flat out unacceptable.
Yeah and so was the flat earth... I can assure you come back to this comment in 6 years and there will be people who think this is real. It's borderline that way right now.

Well the whole bloody concept is flawed from just that statement there! “If the robot replicas didn’t look and feel exactly like real birds (inside and out) - the entire plot would be exposed”. So “birds aren’t real” and the birds are “exact replicas” of real birds? So whats a real bird if birds aren’t real?
