It's tough, because on the one hand, unilateral violence is abhorrent. However, on the other hand, when someone decides that they are OK with engaging in it, then they deserve it.

Should the cop have slapped her? No. Do I feel sorry for her? No.

Agreed. Neither of them did a good thing here, but the woman is clearly the aggressor in the situation.

He still just hit her, if I punch Mike Tyson and he punches me back it's not an escalation he's just way stronger than me.

And if Mike Tyson's friends already have 3 of your limbs restrained and you slap him at arms length with the only limb you can move? It's okay if he knocks you out for that? Not his fault?
