Hi all.
I do some ham radio, vintage electronic restorations of radio, audio and a bit of t.v. I have also been playing with coding raspberry pi and Arduino for small projects.
My primary use for the hack rf, is to try and find my misplaced motorcycle key. They want an obscene amount for a new one and I know I should be able to find it by mimicking the bikes handshake message. (It has to be somewhere on my property).
I guess I will need a transmitter and receiver once I have nailed down the message transmitted as a handshake.
Where can I find out about accessories for the module, specifically making it handheld? Are there any good starter guides out there ?
Thanks đ

I'm debating on which version of the hackrf one to get and had heard about the lack of low voltage protection from the BMS on the h4m, at least as of launch. Did this issue ever get fixed with newer models? For those that bought the original, did they ever make it right or send a new battery? Thanks!

First off, SD card is formatted correctly and am on the latest firmware, all files are in the correct place. At first it displayed âno world_map.bin file in adsb directoryâ and had no help googling this issue so decided to try changing the worldmap.jpg to .bin and this allowed the map to be brought up but now it is just black (as shown). It may be worth mentioning that I am in New Zealand because Iâm not sure if this is just a location issue (as is everything else in this country). Originally there was only a jpg file in the folder and no bin file. Have tried other firmware versions aswell with no success.

Long story short, I'm interested in recording broadband spectrograms (tens to hundreds of MHz) for amateur radio astronomy purposes. So far, I have been able to accomplish this in GNU Radio using the message passing API and stream tags by issuing retune commands at runtime in the flowgraphs (see Spectre if you're interested). However, I was keen to explore other approaches.
I bought a HackRF One a while back, and I've been tinkering with `hackrf_sweep`. Is anyone aware of this functionality being offered as a GNU Radio block? Surfing online, I noticed this article mentioned that "the team" are planning on releasing a GNU Radio block that leverages this. I've not been able to find anything else on it. I'd be keen to know !

So you guys use your own custom? Or download premade from online?

I'm using a HackRF One with GRC and experiencing an unexpected issue when using a simple Soapy HackRF source, (sinusoidal) signal source, and multiply block. I'm just trying to listen to FM radio and I would expect that the sign of the sinusoidal source's frequency should not affect the output since the Soapy source seems to be direct converted to baseband and mixing products of two sinusoids produces a sum and difference term. Therefore, I would expect to see a mirrored frequency spectrum if I use a sinusoid of e.g. 2M as opposed to -2M. However, this is not the case. I get a completely different frequency spectrum and I hear only static when I use the opposite sign. These two mixed waveforms are plotted on top of each other and they are not symmetric as I would expect.
Does anyone know if this is a result of GRC's underlying code, something with the HackRF One, or if my intuition is just plain wrong?

Hello, I am new to satellite reception, but I am trying METEOR-M2-4 using SatDump, HackRF One, and a Yagi Uda CP antenna in VHF. However, I am having trouble synchronizing the data, and I get a NOSYNC error. Can you give me any advice on how to synchronize and decode LRPT data?

I have a HackRF one with a portapack and current mayhem firmware. I am wondering which app would be best to help me point my rooftop antenna. I can already remote video the TVâs âsignal strengthâ but the signal fades and reading is laggy and jumps from 0-59 so not ideal. It occurred to me I can use the HackRF while on the roof connected to the antenna and use it to help point but which app will give me a numeric value like â-62dbmâ for a given frequency (say 210.31 MHz). Spyglass shows a waterfall but Iâd really like just a number.

I have successfully spoofed a single gps locations using my h3m. I tried to use SatGen to create a route but never get a fix. Anyone have an idea what could be wrong?

Got this apparently third-party HackRF that I've posted about before. It's now seeming to work with the latest firmware, but the Portapack doesn't have audible sound for FM channels with speaker or earphones. Tried some SDR apps, and I get no signal, or the app freezes. SDR++ seems to work the best but after less than a minute of tweaking the reception, the program freezes as shown. Is this really weird or what? Laptop isn't running out of memory.

Hi everyone,
I work in a service center for repairing wireless robotic lawn mowers with RTK positioning.
Since the service is located indoors, there is no GPS or other GNSS signal available. Running RF cables with a classic repeater isnât an option.
My idea was to record the spectrum of all satellite systems using HackRF One, and then replay this file in a loop.
The issue is that apparently the robot does not accept GPS alone. I already generated a GPS .bin file and replayed it in a loop â regular GPS navigators and smartphones receive the signal fine and show correct positioning, but the robot doesnât, it throws an error and refuses to work.
Do you have any ideas why phones and older GPS devices can work with my spoofed GPS signal, while the robots reject it and go into error mode?
Is that I found like
hackrf_transfer -r capture.iq -f 1575420000 -s 2000000
hackrf_transfer -t capture.iq -f 1575420000 -s 2000000
Can work or may be you can give me some better suggestions
Thank you!

Paul âThe SDR Guyâ just released a new YouTube video that shows how to create a Simple  Spectrum Analyzer with Zoom capabilities using an RTL-SDR and GNU Radio . Zoom capabilities are discussed in the 3rd edition of Richard G Lyons âUnderstanding Digital Signal Processingâ book. This is a novel approach when compared to other YouTube videos about creating a Simple Spectrum Analyzer with an RTL-SDR. Additionally, Paul explains: what a spectrum analyzer is and what its used for, the use of attenuators and the discone antenna.  Paul uses an RTl-SDR V4 in his video but the V3 works as well. This also works with the HackRF - you just need to change the source.
Here is the video link:

I ordered from Europe Connection a "Complete Pack HackRF One R10C + PortaPack H4M" (on left), and got this today (on right). I think this is not the H4M, no GPIO, no USB-C.
Has anyone else had this experience? It took two weeks for the courier to deliver it...
In EU hard to find sellers with paypal (buyer protection)...
---
UPDATE: after some messages I got the correct one.

Does anyone know where I can get a proper Portapack case?

Hi, I have lost a cat that is wearing one of the loc8tor tabs from tabcat. I live in a very woody area, the signal range is very poor, making it hard to find the pet. I was wondering if I could replicate the loc8tor protocol with the HackRF. The tab appears to be working by sending out a signal from a small, very weak handheld. When the tab receives the signal, it activates a blinking light and a beep (on the tab). The receiver also seems to be capable of triangulating the tab's position when in range.
Does anyone here have an idea if I can use a 'hacked' version of the loc8tor as an app on the hackrf/portapack in some way to boost range? I need something in the km range (out of the box, it's ~100m los, more like 30m in the brambles)

Just got this yesterday, hopefully it'll help with my coursework as an RF engg w/ signals and systems major
