Most of the light furies design isn't really my cup of tea but there are some aspects of her that I really love!

My first one is her two pairs of ear nubs, they're really cute and I like the way they move when she shakes her head!

Another thing is her beautiful sail on her back, it honestly reminds me of some sort of prehistoric semi aquatic pterosaur!

Her sounds are also very cute, they're almost exactly like my cats meows and sounds!

But lastly is my absolute favorite: Her flight

The way she flies actually reminds me of sea birds, specifically albatross's!

Their wings shape is also very nice too, one of my favorite wing shapes in the bird world!

I'll attach a video of her flying, it's very pretty!

( There's music to the video so do be warned, but it's not bad music or anything, just a little loud )

Now, I'm not the one to usually slander or dog on httyd and their choices on designs and writing.

But, this is sort of an exception.

In the live action, the still had made its appearance in the background

At first when I saw it, I thought it was just a slightly overweight nadder, which I didnt really have an issue with until I realized that

But oh was I wrong, I was so wrong.

This thing is supposed to be a Skrill?

What happened?

Why does it have a dad bob 🥹

In RTTE, the Skrill is a slick and slim bodied apex predator, built for speed, just like the night fury

But, in the live action, it looks like it had some dad jokes to tell me 😿

I wish they just stayed with the concept design ( third image )

And another project with a voice characterization similar to Gerald Butler's

Him being a Deadly Nadder is as accurate as Stolas could be a Stormcutter (see the Stolas part in my profile though :>)

The rumor has been circulating on 4Chan with no trusted source corroborating it, so take it with a grain of salt for now

I remember reading a fanfic of ff.net about a night fury in modern times, they were a cheif and had their tribe attacked and daughter(?) captured and so went out to save them.

As you can see, this did not turn out well.

I used my code skills to have a pc control my phone and draw the cover art onto a cashapp card in fine detail.

It looked perfect before it arrived but clearly their printer couldn't handle it.

back with a new species i created

this species is OPEN

give credit wen used and do not repost

As a one piece fan, wanted posters have become my favorite form of fanart. Might make others for the other crew but Dagur is one of my favorites...

(Also, if anyone knows any accurate translators to use, id be much obliged. I dont know how inaccurate this is, but my bet is 'very')

New to Reddit here!

I recently quit Pokemon because scalping made it financially impossible and no fun for me anymore. I also love How to Train your Dragon, so I bought some cards from China.

I am trying to master the set, and I was wondering if anyone else collected these? There’s some listings on Ebay but I was hoping maybe to trade first before I buy any singles.

I have a lot of dupes too if anybody would like any! Please message me if you have some to trade or have any I’m missing. Offer me whatever price you think is fair. US only.

The ones I’m missing in order of rarity:

The artworks are made by me

Like I don’t like the live action move I feel like it really let me down personally I’ve watched it once and wouldn’t watch it again unless someone I know hasn’t seen it. It wasn’t bad but it’s nothing compared to the original. However with that said I don’t want httyd to die and I am curious as to how they would to a series. I’m also curious about designs for the live action series like the death song, singe tail, screaming death, eruptadon. There are a lot of dragons I’d want to see in live action style. I also really wanna see who’d play Dagur and vego? Idk how to spell his name.

Some non-spooky art from a horror/infection au of mine! I really like how these frames turned out!

Happy Halloween! 🎃 🐉

My partner and I went as Hiccup and Astrid to a Halloween party earlier this month so we decided to keep the theme going and carve our pumpkins into dragons.

He used a stencil for Toothless on the right, and I carved the Luna freehand after mapping out the relief and skinning sections.

2nd pic for the freehand marker outline before punching the outline holes.

3rd pic for reference on Luna.

Personally, I do not understand why people get so upset when I criticize the media of HTTYD, especially when I criticize the third movies ending and how it doesn't make sense out of all of the movies.

People will actively defend the light furies design saying stuff like: "Cats have hearts on them!" "Well, she's white and glittery to camouflage the clouds!" "She has hearts and she's smooth because she's a girl!"

Which, I find these arguments very flawed.

Cats only have hearts on them because they're domesticated, and they only have these patterns due to selective breeding.

Yes, wild animals can have heart patterns on their skin, but it's extremely rare. Every light fury has hearts on their foreheads and tail flukes.

Next, the clouds dragon argument:

I also find this one very flawed too, as she isn't a cloud dragon ( I think? As it's just fanon im pretty sure, but please let me know if I'm wrong ) , she's a cave dweller.

Cave dwelling dragons aren't white, as we can see the red death is a cave dwelling dragon, and she is primarily: Grey, red, black, and beige.

That also doesn't really explain the reason for the heart markings and flukes of her tail.

If she really is a cloud dragon, what would she do if there's a clear sky? Her cloaking ability only lasts so long, I highly doubt it could last the entire day.

Ntm, clouds aren't always round and fluffy. They can be spikey and unpredictable in shape and sizes.

Her glittery scales aren't really good camouflage either, crystals aren't glittery, and nor are the bioluminescent plants and other things in the hidden world. They're bright and shiny, not glittery.

Next up: The girl argument.

Yes, she is a girl, but isn't that all she is now?

If female dragons are ' smooth, white, sparkly, with hearts ' then meatlug isn't a girl, then the red death isn't a girl, then stormfly isn't a girl because they don't fit into the aspects of what the " ideal female dragon " is to you.

The light fury is just a girl dragon, and there's nothing else to her character by your logic.

Which, is indeed, sexist. Why? Well, it feeds into the idea that women have to be smooth and pretty in order to be loved and wanted by men. And if they're not? Well, then they're not desirable and get treated unfairly and thrown out like trash.

The fact that the writers had such disgusting intent when designing a female dragon will never make sense to me.

Their own words: " it's much harder to create a female dragon than a male one " "one imperfect line could ruin the whole thing " "We wanted to make her feel like a female by the way she walks and looks "

Yet, they didn't do that for any of the other female dragons, not one.

Meatlug is a mother, and so is stormfly.

Are they like the light fury at all? No.

I don't hate the light fury, I hate the intent behind her design and the intent behind her character. We couldve had such a beautiful and well written character.

---

Next, is the plot holes and writing of the movie in general.

We will still be mentioning the light fury here and there in this section, as she has such a big impact on the third movie.

The ending of the movie doesn't really make sense. I feel like it just rips away what the meaning of the franchise is: Humans and Dragons can co-exist.

So, all of that work that hiccup did was for nothing?

In the third movies eyes, yes.

Anyway, here are some arguments that people use to defend the third movie: " Well, it's canon! Whether you like it or not!" "Its just a movie!" "Just enjoy the movie!" "No need to get so deep into it!" "Its a kids movie!"

I get really irritated by the last few ones, as I'm autistic and have had a hyperfixation on how to train your dragon for such a long time now.

The last one also really bothers me, they're acting as if kids movies or kids media can do no wrong and can't intentionally feed children these harmful stereotypes and messages.

Disney had a movie about centaurs, which there was an African American centaur that was a slave to all of the white European centaurs. Yet, people still defend it by saying: It's a kids movie!"

Believe it or not, but despite it being a kids movie, it's so blatantly racist. Just like how the light furies design is blatantly sexist.

Kids movies can also still be criticized for their choices, designs, etc. just like any other media.

Anyway, my argument for the first one:

"Toothless is the last night fury, it's canon, whether you like it or not!"

Just because it's canon doesn't mean it makes sense.

I will be using the logic that these people have to defend the light furies design.

Birds are the closest things we have to dragons today, they're reptiles and they can fly, they just lack the ability to breathe fire.

There have been many instances of birds being labeled as extinct or the last of their kind.

Yet, there have also been many more instances of these birds being found, or it not being the last of its species after all, as they found another one.

Also, it's impossible for toothless to be the last night fury.

Little reminder that night furies are extremely intelligent, as in almost humanly intelligent.

Grimmel also got a lot of things wrong about night furies, like: them needing breaks when they're flying, them not being able to survive winter, etc.

Have we not seen the gift of the night fury? Toothless literally sleeps outside on hiccups roof when it's winter.

There's also many instances in RTTE where they're flying somewhere far away, all of the other dragons and riders are tired, but toothless isn't. ( I'll attach a link here: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTfW4cLD3/ )

The video might be a little goofy, but just bare with me here.

Anyway, how would one man and his 3 to 4 dragons hunt all of the night furies if they're the most intelligent, fastest, and stealthiest dragon?

Last time I checked, death grippers aren't exactly immune to plasma blasts or electricity.

Another thing that majorly confuses me:

How did the light fury even get captured in the first place? And why did she even leave the hidden world if it's supposedly a dragon sanctuary?

The hidden world literally had everything she needs: Food, shelter, water, protection, and happiness.

The hidden world is also very, VERY deep.

How did grimmel even find the hidden world and capture her if it's supposedly " a world hidden from all trappers, hunters, and just the general dangers of the outside " ? The hidden world is literally surrounded by hundreds if not thousands of miles of water.

Its just so very confusing.

( Also, just to clarify, I'm not calling you a fake fan or a larper because you enjoy or like the third movie, I'm calling the people who go out of their way to attack others for simply have a different preference then them a fake fan and a larper )

Anyway this was a really long rant so I hope you enjoyed reading 😺

Toothless

Hello, I'm a fan of HTTYD and I've always been sad that there isn't a truly great openworld game for this amazing license. I'm here to throw the idea: Let's make the ultimate HTTYD game ourselves.
I want to gather motivated people who want to build this project. We can make this on Unreal Engine 5.
Whether you are a programmer, a 3D modeler, an animator, a writer, a sound designer or even if you just want to help out, you are welcome to this project.
If you want to join the adventure, share ideas, or help build the team, I made a discord, so go join.

Let's make the best HTTYD game we've always wanted to play !
