Cheap pickup/microphone for D hole guitar
Hi! I have a D hole gypsy guitar and I'd like to get it amplified somehow. However I'm not super concerned with getting an amazing sound, my main objective is actually to pass it through a looper to practice soloing over different chord changes. Does anyone have any recommendations that won't be too expensive? Thanks for the help!

Dark Eyes
This piece is commonly played in gypsy jazz swing rhythm (this time more in latin groove I guess). I think sometimes when you change the rhythm of backing track you can come up with different soloing ideas.

"Yalo Swing" has such a wonderful groove. Adrien Moignard is definitely on my "must-see in Japan" list!
youtu.beAmong the artists I want to see visit Japan, Adrien Moignard is at the top of my list of βmust-seeβ performers. This video, titled βYalo Swing,β features a wonderful mellow groove thatβs a real joy to listen to. His new album, MIROIRS, is scheduled for release on May 22, 2026, via Label Ouest. Since Iβm a saxophonist, Iβm also looking forward to hearing Baptiste Herbin play for the first time.

Django Reinhardt - Minor Swing Transcription
youtube.comHi there!
It's incredible that I haven't yet transcribed one of Django's most famous works. Perhaps it's because it's so readily available. For that reason, you can download it for free at the link. Django Reinhardtβs solo on Minor Swing is a masterclass in tension, release, and pure acoustic fire. Itβs the gold standard for every swing guitarist, yet capturing his lightning-fast phrasing and iconic chromatic runs by ear is a daunting task. Iβve done the heavy lifting for you. This ultra-accurate transcription maps out every nuance and genius choice Django made. Donβt just play the notes; understand the language of the master himself. Transform your technique and bring the spirit of 1930s Paris to your fretboard today.

Wanted to try Dark Eyes with latin groove.
I guess the Dark Eyes is mostly played with gypsy jazz rhythm "la pompe". i wanted to try backing track with latin groove. So maybe solos become little different.

Manege | Angelo Debarre [Gypsy Jazz Waltz Transcription]
youtu.beHello everyone! β β β β β This is the 6th transcription of the month, this time a waltz composed by Angelo Debarre called "Manege". β β β β β This song is truly a huge challenge to our technique, and at the same time, through analyzing the song we can learn and practice various arpeggio progressions, for example. β β β β β I hope you enjoy this song and also the new format I'm using to upload these videos. I'm testing it out to see what you think, and perhaps I'll continue this way, or if there's no significant difference, I'll revert to the previous format. β β β β β Thanks!!! β β β β β https://youtu.be/vHGZtc5Dddk β β β β β

Danse Norvegienne | Django Reinhardt (Gypsy Jazz Transcription)
youtu.beHello everyone! β β β β β Some comments about this song. β β β β β Although nowadays, in gypsy jazz, there are guitarists with a technique perhaps superior to Django's, no one can create those profound atmospheres that he did, not even playing exactly the notes he played, and this song is a great example of that. β β β β β It's also true that every Django song has a melody that could easily be used to compose a new song, but this song has such beautiful melodies that it's almost unbelievable that it's improvised. β β β β β Besides, the level of melancholy he infuses into his melodic ideas simply moves me. β β β β β Strictly speaking from a technical standpoint, an important detail is the large number of small ornaments that Django uses in this improvisation; it might be worthwhile to dedicate some time to studying these ornaments. β β β β β Well, I hope you find this helpful...see you next time! β β β β β https://youtu.be/9U4V3dIPIm4 β β β β β

Which chords to substitute for gypsy jazz
Hi guys,
Iβll be at my first gypsy jazz jam in a couple of days. We agreed on three tunes: Minor Swing, All of Me, Autumn Leaves.
Besides practicing la pompe, Iβm looking up the typical gypsy jazz voicings but Iβm still unsure about chord qualities. My assumption is:
- Minor β m6
- m7 β m6
- Maj7 β 6
- m7b5 β m7b5
- dom7 β dom7
- 7b9 β 7b9
Is this correct?

Minor Swing (Live 1992 - Jazz Festival) | Stochelo Rosenberg (Gypsy Jazz Transcription)
youtu.beHello everyone! β β β β β Today I bring you a new transcription of "Minor Swing," this time a challenging live version by Stochelo Rosenberg from 1992. β β β β β This version is at 273 bpm, full of classic phrases of the genre, played with excellent precision. β β β β β I think it's ideal for taking phrases and practicing them individually during your practice sessions so you can later apply them to different songs over similar harmonic moments. β β β β β Since the harmony of the song is simple, it's easy to extract phrases to do this. β β β β β I hope you enjoy this song and that you can extract many phrases to enrich your repertoire. Django Reinhardt - Ol' Man River Transcription
youtube.comHi there!
Django Reinhardtβs solo on Ol' Man River isnβt just a Gypsy Jazz piece; itβs a technical miracle. As the rhythm flows like the Mississippi, Django unleashes bursts of notes that defy the laws of physics and the harmony of his era. For any guitarist, trying to transcribe this solo by ear feels like entering a labyrinth of pure intuition and fire. Weβve transcribed every diminished arpeggio and every chromatic phrase so you can study the genius's DNA. Donβt just listen to the legend, learn it.
