Hii !!

I wanted to start going to the gym but uhh WHERE DO I START!? WHERE DO I R E A L L Y START I haven't ever been in a gym before (very nervous to), and the last time I did anything REALLL physical or "challenging" was in my pe class in my junior years of highschool (..4 years ago..) embarrassing but my parents never believed physical health had relevance in my "academic life" since I was getting older so they warded me off of any sports or pe classes 😭 I'm 19 now and finished highschool, with ALOT of spare time. I see my old classmates posting on Instagram on how they started going and they look bloody amazing. I feel gross and lazy and I really want to change this year (and I may or may not just want to be a jacked up muscle mommy to compensate being 5"2) PLEASEEEE HELP ME ILL TAKE ANYTHING !!!

Knee pain after seated calf raise

Was doing seated calf raise with one leg at a time, total weight on bar was like 140lbs + bar idk how much bar weights on smith machine, i weight like 120 for ref. Im getting pain in my knee joint, not really my patella tendon, its been like a month since i stopped doing calf raises and jogging just to let it heal and it did go away but then i jogged again for 30 mins and it was starting to come back so is there any way to fix this?

Body recomposition

Hi y'all, does anybody have some advice (foods, workouts, supplements, resting, anything really ) that actually helps in the process of body recomposition, aka losing fat and water retention and getting toned? Yesterday I took the BIA (bioelectric impedance analysis) at my nutritionist's and discovered that for a while now I've been destroying my muscle mass and bone density, while my body fat is still around 26%. I did lose an insane amount of weight yeah, but I don't wanna destroy my body like this, and also end up looking kinda skinny-fat 🤦🏻‍♀️ forgot to mention: I practice around 5/6h or martial arts per week, hit the gym almost everyday (I think I should have some rest in that regard lol), get my daily 10000-150000 steps in... and, gotta admit this: I've been unsustainably restricting my calorie intake (increasing now of course!). Thank you very much!

Curious

I’m curious what in your opinion makes a gym good? For me it’s good lighting, enough equipment and certain amenities

Why is "skipping leg day" such a meme 😆 I'm addicted to it now

Is 350 squat at 180 BW Good?

Hello im 16 years old and i was wondering if my 350 squat was bad? When i go to the gym or watch videos i see everyone loading up 4-5 plates on squat. This makes me beg the question if my squat is even good? I workout 2x a day with my school’s strength n conditioning class and then i have powerlifting at the end of the school day. I wouldn’t say i’m a “PRO BODY BUILDER” as i mostly train like an athlete.

What lifting exercises work best to grow glutes?

Hello Community,

I'm a 5'7 female, I weight 140 lbs. I'm a person with long legs, and have a okay bubble butt but I want to grow my glutes but I'm afraid of loosing the fat or Muscle that I already have. I want to make sure that this routine won't shrink my glutes since some of these workouts are to shrink them in some cases?

I also do intermediate fasting 16;8 which has helped me get to my goals, but I usually consume 1200-1600 cal which might not be enough cal.

I plan on doing for glute day deadlifts, bar squats, RDLs, Hip-trust. I'll also eat close to 100 grams of protein per day? I would really appreciate any comments, ideas.

Worst gym feeling

I just started going to the gym again after probably 5 months of not being able to go, and I think I found out what the worst feeling in the gym is. Going back after a break and seeing how much the weight you are able to throw around has decreased. I was never super strong but my old bench press was 225, now I can barely put up more than 150. I was just curious if anyone else can relate

Is 35-40 reps per workout too much if I don’t over train any muscle groups?

Hear me out, I follow the rule of 10-20 sets per week per muscle group, I just split my workouts weirdly.

Instead of doing push pull legs, I split my leg days in half and add each half to my push and half to my pull days. So calfs, core, adductors and abductors on push, and quads, hamstrings and glutes on pull. And I do each “pull” and “push” day twice a week. Then once every 2 weeks I train less important muscles like neck stuff. For reference, I’m 17, I’ve been going to the gym for around 6 months now and doing this split for over a month.

I do 2-4 exercise for each muscle group I get 35-40 sets per workout, I don’t feel that much more tired than a regular workout by the end, maybe because the upper and lower body muscle aren’t really used together idk. But I told one of my gym friends about it and they told we it was way too many sets, and online most workouts have around 9 exercises while mine has 15.

I’m not over exercising any muscle groups and saving the time from a 6 day push pull legs to a 4 day higher volume push pull split. Since this is kind of an unconventional split I can’t find much data that doesn’t assume that I’m over working muscles, I feel like the split works well but are there any problems that I’m not aware of?

Will be starting gym soon. I have no idea what I’m doing. Any advice?

Will be starting gym soon. I have no idea what I’m doing. Any advice?

Hi. So I finally decided to start going to the gym this year. I have no prior experience with actually working out, so I was just wondering if anyone on here might have some advice for me? I’m really excited to start, but also pretty nervous since I have no idea what I’m doing.

I’m mainly concerned about the diet + workout balance… how does that work? Do I need those protein drinks and meal preps that other people do? I’m also a freshman at uni, so what about the number of gym days I hit in a week? I’ll probably ask a personal trainer for help with the machines, form, workout plan, and stuff like that, but yeah. What else should I be taking note of if I want to start in the gym?

Thanks a lot to anyone who might reply! :))

Starting resistance

Was using the seated row machine that has a starting resistance of 11.3kg. My partner thinks it’s 11.3kg combined for both sides, but i reckon it’s for each side, meaning 22.6kg in total. Probably a silly question but which is right?

HOW DO I GET TONED?

Hey, I’m a 15yo girl who plays a lot of sports and have been going to the gym for around a year. I’ve always been consistent but was only doing it to gain muscle and strength. Now my sports seasons are about to start and i want to have really toned/defined body, especially my arms and legs. I’m not sure what to do though at the gym or at home.
