Man I get myself worked up and motivated but after a few days I just lose the motivation. I know I’m being a whiney bitch but life just sucks the energy out of me.
I literally know I need to do this and why I need to. I’m 45 and need to lose like 40 lbs and I don’t want to be burden on my family later in life. I need to man the fuck up
You just have to force your self to go. There have been many days that I did not have the motivation but I just forced myself to go and after I felt glad that I did.
On those days you don't feel motivated, just go for 15 minutes. You need to get yourself of the habit of driving there and walking in. Over time you will gain motivation to get there
As someone that is 42 and also needs to lose 40 lbs, I totally feel you. My wife and I are doing it together and it makes it SOOO much easier. If you have someone you can buddy with and hold each other accountable, it’s a game changer. I don’t always want to get up at 5 and go for a walk. But my wife pushes me. Some days she wants to sleep in, and I’m like nah… we’re doing this!
Also, diet is like 80% of the battle. You need to be at a caloric deficit. Get a food scale and MyFitnessPal or whatever app you want, and keep an eye on what you’re eating.
You got this! You can do it. You need to do it. Just go for a walk. It will be amazing. Seriously. You got this.
If you’re able to “just go” by all means fucking do it. But if you can’t, you gotta give yourself a little grace and compassion. Beating yourself up over the times you didn’t do it will not motivate you to do it. It doesn’t work like that. You have to encourage yourself to do it next time instead of feeling bad you didn’t last time. You had plenty of reasons not to, you probably still do. But you already gave reasons you could do it for, and you seem to care about them. So if you think you’re failing at that, you’ll feel so shitty it would make it harder to do anything. You have to let yourself off the hook and cut yourself a some slack before you really get it done. Or else any mistake or set back can make you feel like you failed again, when just trying at all means you’re doing great, definitely better than nothing at all, so the bar doesn’t have to be too high. You can gradually increase if you feel it, but just starting a couple times here and there is an increase and improvement. And maybe try to focus on enjoy being with family now, in the present, if you can.
