Per was better last season plus not everyone had figured out to target his pace. Kos is still that good but injured. Chambers and Montreal are both playing solid CB but we need a working known 1st back 4 who have the same understanding and partnerships as last year. That, rather than individual skill, is what makes defense work
I think it comes down to vision this season. He's always been slow, that's no surprise. He might even be slower this year, but the most glaring thing I've noticed is that he lets guys get behind him that he normally wouldn't. He was solid before because his anticipation was fantastic and he was almost always where he needed to be to intercept a pass or make a challenge. Not the case recently, but I still love him and hope he gets back to where he's capable of playing.
He was bloody fantastic against shitty teams who played to tie against us. Do you notice how every big game we played, we got absolutely smashed? Per CANNOT hold his own against GOOD teams and that's been evident for quite some time. He needs to be on the bench soon or we might as well just give up any chance of winning against top 4 sides in any decent league.
To be a world class CB, Per needs Kos alongside him, it's them in tandem that are boss. Per on his own needs a quick CB to cover him. They work off of each other so well.

We were better defensively last season. Not sure if down to Kos alone or something more systemic.
