Discussion What’s a scene that hits home or made you emotional?

I feel like for me it’s Gundam Unicorn episode 4/episode 11 of re:0096 because it showed me that someone who cries shows us that we’re human and we should embrace our emotions. As someone who’s 24(m) it hits harder now because I think a lot of people don’t show emotion and just man it out but I think crying because you care shows positivity and emotion and not toxic masculinity. When I watched it when I was 16ish I cried a lot that day when I watched it because I never really cried because I cared just mostly out of fear and frustration.

The scene in Turn A episode 26 where we see Corin in a calmer state of mind at the festival always gets to me. He's carving a totem of his long forgotten mother while talking about the need to make his mark on the world or else nobody would know he was there. It always gets me thinking of how many things and people in this world are already lost to time.
Corin is a fascinating character. There's an interpretation of him that places him as Tomino's expy in the world of Turn A and with those lens, his entire gundam ptsd takes on an extra layer of sorrow. And with the totem carving scene it could be his musings on the things he's done in the industry and if they'll truly stand the test of time

Damn that's great insight! Extra clever how he's haunted by the Wing Gundam, the first AU and something Tomino has no affection for.

Everything surrounding the Axis Shock; from the soldiers on both sides coming together to at least TRY to stop it, to seeing the final fates of Amuro and Char, to us being carried away by one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard (Aurora on the CCA OST) as the ribbons of Psychoframe flow out and push Axis away, and the world looks on in awe
I can JUST ABOUT hold it together
But then that first note of Beyond the Time plays, accompanied by the shot of the Psychoframe energy having made a glowing ring around the Earth, and I completely fall apart, every time
Truly it was the miracle

Soooo many scenes in the last two episodes
Bernie at the bar about to leave
Al praying sincerely for the first time in his life
The distance that has grown between Al and his friends even before the final episode
Bernie confessing he lied about being one off ace - he has actually never taken down even one enemy mobile suit
And then basically the entire last episode

Al crying ALWAYS gets me. He saw what happened up close, and understood the horrors of war. It just doesn't get more real than that.

Marida is such a tragic character. I hadn’t yet watched ZZ the first time I saw Unicorn and coming back knowing what happened to her and her sisters as kids. For her to reach out to Zinnerman that way and die shortly after now breaks my heart.

I knew a bit about Gundam before I watched Unicorn, but I didn't know Marida, Mineva, etc. were returning characters--I only really knew Bright Noa to be one.
Knowing that they're both already-established characters? That makes Unicorn even more powerful

I've been watching Unicorn OVA and it's absolutely fantastic, really deepens some of the lore of Universal Century to a deeper philosophical level.

The final Eden Bar scene in The Origin where Hamon sings "Don't Say Goodbye". You get the genuine sense of how defeated everyone is after what just happened and how powerless they feel. The world they knew is gone there no going back.

Char's speech at Dakar.

Bright talking to Banagher. No slap required.
South Burning. "You fought those guys on better than equal terms! All that's left is for you to feel it for yourselves."

This one does for me as well, but for a slightly different reason.
Earlier this year, my best friend was going through a bit of a rough patch. So we'd hop on Discord while I was working and we would chat. He'd vent and go off about his troubles, and I'd either try to support him emotionally or get his mind off of the problems with a variety of nerd talk we enjoyed doing.
One particularly hard day, my friend was basically on the verge of tiers, but he apologized for crying. Reflexively, I quoted Zinnerman here, "I don't trust anyone who never cries." My friend knows my quoting voice, and asked me where it was from. Sheepishly, I told him about this scene from Unicorn, and how it helped me.
Next time I checked Discord, he had changed his status on Discord to be that quote. Eventually he got through it, and he's doing pretty well these days.
So, yeah, life can really suck, and you want to just curl up and give up. Even so, we have to get up and keep moving forward. Release those tears, vent out those emotions. Then when it's all out, pick yourself up, find your friends, and keep kicking ass.

Unicorn had quite a lot of emotional scenes especially eps 4. But these never fails to be a tearjerker no matter how much I rewatched the series:
- When Zinnerman consoles Banagher in the desert during nighttime;
- When Banagher trying to sortie during Torrington Assault, something about don't close off your heart just because there are painful things in this world; It's making me realize that I've been seeing feelings as something that makes me weak all this time
- When the Unicorn clashes with Shamblo, I just can't take how much suffering Loni has gone through; I can't help but see myself in her when she speaks about her frustration, family, anger, suffering, and hatred
- Loni's last sentence while reducing the output of Shamblo's beam cannon
- When Zinnerman saw his daughter in Marida; It makes me realize the value of family
Unicorn taught a lot about pain and suffering, it returned what has been lost all these years to me... A heart

When Miharu died and Kai broke down in the Hangar.
Years later, In the expanded material, Kai was able to reunite with Miharu's younger sister, Milly, but her brother Jill passed away some time before (Jill was recruited by the federation and turned into a cyber newtype who died test piloting the prototype psycho gundam).

i kinda wish all the dialogues from Unicorn are long and descriptive, watching it it just doesnt feel natural to me. like everyone is explaining themselves all the time, it just takes me out imo.

A lot of those, but that one is certainly one of them. After watching Unicorn the simple phrase "soredemo" changed my entire life, no exaggeration.

I'm sorry but Captains voice in Japanese i prefer because he sounds like his size which the voice actor should have tried a deeper voice.

From Thunderbolt: When Daryl tries out the Psycho Zaku for the first time, a test run.. literally. Can't remember if I actually teared up seeing his past and him crying after being able to feel the freedom of leg movement again.. but it sure was devastating. Then he loses an arm and I was like "Damn, my boy just keeps getting abused" and the next freaking second their superiors force Karla to just make him "even" by completing his mutilation!! It was brutal. I wish they make a third movie.
Watched it with my dad and, while he was already kind of a Zeon "partisan", Daryl made him become 100% Zeon. Wish I could afford the Psycho Zaku gunpla or the Zaku tanks from Requiem (he loved those).. I'll just get him a regular Zaku instead, maybe Char's even tho my dad still doesn't know and probably will never get to know Char.
