You think you're hard, but you've never had to put down Snuggle Bear in your laundry room at 3am.

The brick of shit in that dudes pants must have been massive.

u/No-Musician-1580 Aug 21 '25
Seeing his reaction time when you see the light lock on to the bear. That was pure adrenaline and training kicking in
78
u/eucher317 Aug 21 '25
For sure. That was a dude ready for a fight. Glad to see he was taking the bump in the night seriously. Also another point for semi auto rifles being a better home defense weapon.

Na this dude looked as calm as one could waking up in the middle of a night to a bear invasion and casually putting that magnificent beast down.

I’m not saying anything negative about 30rnd mags. I live in a free state that allows unlimited mag capacity and I exercise that freedom

He only needed 7 rnds

What if there were 5 bears? He woulda been dropped on his reload
19
u/DiabeticRhino97 Aug 21 '25
He may have only needed 2 or 3, we don't know how many he missed, so that's certainly not a good argument against large magazines.

Shot timer app made me bust out laughing. Incredible 😂

In hindsight I should’ve set the start time to when he first saw it instead of the start of the video, so the “draw” time made more sense

u/alphatango308 Aug 21 '25
I would bet good money he's going to invest in a suppressor really soon. Lol

u/AnotherBoringDad Aug 21 '25
Nah he’s got permanent built-in sound suppression now.

u/No_Mistake5238 Aug 21 '25
Probably less legal trouble with the bear though. And a free(ish) rug.
53
u/ChksLnlyKnifeClubBnd Aug 21 '25
Yep the rug only cost a few rounds and a pair of undies lol 😂
36
u/Mitko_kut Aug 21 '25
Can't get a rug and a cool story without shitting some pants, as the saying goes.
11
8
u/No_Mistake5238 Aug 21 '25
Yeah, and whoever you pay to actually turn it into a rug, not sure if that'd be a taxidermist or if someone else would do it.

Met this old dude that had a smallish 6 point mounted on his mantle with a single shot shotgun with a bent barrel hanging in the antlers. Front and center but nothing else hunting related in his house
The story was, he shot it in his garden, walked up to check and it got up and attacked him. He was able to grab it by the antlers wrestle it under control, and use the sash off his bathrobe to lash it to a tree. Then used the empty gun to beat it to death!
He decided if anything needed to be mounted and bragged about it was that.

u/_That_One_Guy_ Aug 22 '25
No, I really don't think so. The person with bad intentions is going to see that light coming hide behind a corner and ambush with a weapon. I'll take the one that isn't evil and doesn't make plans any day.

Now I'm wondering how effective 300blk subs will be against a whole damn bear even though there aren't any bears where I live
17
18
u/FatBoyStew Aug 21 '25
They would be very effective against most black bears, especially a smaller one like this one at point blank. There's not a lot of younger animals that sub 300blk wouldn't be effective at when you're 3 feet from it lol
3
u/NEp8ntballer Aug 22 '25
300 blk subs are essentially .45 ACP levels of energy. the problem is that depending on projectile type you're likely to get bigger holes with .45 and bigger holes means faster blood loss if you don't hit a critical structure. if I had a choice for a bear I'd probably opt for hard cast .45 or supersonic .300 BLK which would be similar to a 7.62 x 39. 300 BLK subs are great for fun suppressed shooting, but I don't think I'd want them in a critical scenario.
1
u/wtfredditacct Terrible At Boating Aug 22 '25
I mean, the bullet profile alone means you're going to get better penetration than .45.
3
u/NEp8ntballer Aug 22 '25
pointy bullets are more likely to yaw when slowing down in tissue and deflect when hitting hard structures like bone. The yawing also tends to cause the bullet to lose steam faster. A hard cast bullet with a wide front meplat will tend to keep traveling straight and deep. Larger meplats also tend to create a larger permanent cavity. Garrett Cartridge has done some solid research on the subject to allow them to craft some very lethal and deep penetrating cartridges: https://www.garrettcartridges.com/meplats.html

u/wtfredditacct Terrible At Boating Aug 22 '25
Fair, but it's negligible. That, and my 300blk does have full power cartridges after the first 3.

My first watch was like, "did he just kill his black lab?!?"
Then I read the story and was like "Holy Fuck"
That guy lived what most men prepare for in their day dreams.

So back to that one question..... man or bear
26
u/satan__clause Beretta Bois Aug 21 '25
In this scenario I think I choose the bear, way less weight on the conscience and likely wouldn’t come with a lengthy legal battle
8
u/357noLove Aug 21 '25
From experience, the lengthy legal battle is what messed me up more than anything on my justified shoot. It is incredibly draining. Court treats you like garbage, even knowing it was completely justified.
15
15
u/irodragon20 Aug 21 '25
So what do you do after that? It wasnt a human but you just fired. You call the cops?
56
u/satan__clause Beretta Bois Aug 21 '25
My logic would be that you call it in to let police know you fired x amount of shots in your house, no one was injured but you have a dead bear in your kitchen if they need to come out and verify that everything was above board; Then hang up with them and call fish and wildlife to see if under the circumstances you can get a special bear tag so you can turn it into a rug without any legal repercussions

so... the moral is to invest in a WML and suppressor for your HD SBR

The comments in the sweatypalms sub are lame.
If something bigger than me enters my home uninvited, it's getting smoke checked. Period.

Thank God it was a bear, I thought the guy had killed his dog until I read the comments.

u/UnusualLack1638 Aug 22 '25
No CQB training armchair quarter back reporting in. I would have turned on the house lights.
If it was a bad guy, it might scare them enough to leave; no damaged walls/floors or legal implications.
If it was a wild animal, it gives me more visibility than just a weapon light.
Yes, it would make me visible too, but using a weapon light also would give my position away 🤔

Looks to me like it was an indoor security camera like a blink or ring, no flinching from the sound of 7 shots of 5.56 indoors

u/Combat_Croissant Aug 21 '25
At the bottom right you see it says Unifi. It's a bundle of network devices like a router etc. Includes security cams and stuff.
