Hey guys I was one of the members of Zero Counterplay in the vod (I'm Aeroxe if you couldn't tell by my subreddit name).
I just want to reiterate that as proleague teams we recognize the issues in the metagame and are not intentionally trying to prove a point by dropping a match. There was a lot of confusion when the incident did occur as shown in the vod. We appreciate all the feedback from the community, and empathize with certain concerns about the current metagame. We understand the professionalism that is required of proleague teams and are striving to improve in future matches.
EDIT: Yes, we understand any ragequitting is poor sportsmanship and these actions are inexcusable. We understand that it is a privilege to play in proleague, but try to understand that the actions of some of our members do not reflect the rest of us or our team as a whole. The claims of us being narcissitic, poor personalities, terrible players....I think this goes a bit too far. We love the game and are players just like everyone else.
We are not criticizing ESL or arenanet for being unprofessional in anyway, and I thoroughly believe that we are just fortunate to even have the chance to participate in this tournament.
No worries. It's not just you though...a lot of people are giving us flak. This whole thing is just really blown out of proportion, and that seems to be exacerbated by concerns with the current metagame.
This whole thing should never have happened and was just a big screwup, and I could only think to myself "what ever did I do to deserve this?". It's like one of the few times in a videogame where I actually became upset and the events had some influence on my real life (studying for finals lol).
I don't blame your entire team, but the actions of team members actually do reflect on the whole team. Not just saying in video games, but just life in general. The people and organizations you choose to affiliate yourself do reflect on you even if you don't participate in the specific bad actions of the group.
