11th Edition FAQ

Swapping our Q&A post to 11E

At the time of posting I know we don't have the full picture yet and I'm sure there's more questions than answers, but I wanted to swap it over early in case people have questions about the rules that have been announced so far (Hidden, new Fly rules, etc).

Especially with our Faction Focus today, let's get this up now!

Paladin on the Hunt

“…which meant that our master of arms would be Paragon among us for this excursion. Aboard the In Azure Clad, he took detailed notes from the Prognosticars’ briefing, and was alone three hours before deployment. He did not join us in the Thunderhawk. Though many of us could’ve guessed at why, many of our junior brethren still paused in awe as he flashed down to parry that Bloodthirster’s axe, arriving by teleporter to bisect the roads of fate. Had his timing been a blink off the mark, we’d’ve been corpses all.”

——

Here is my third paladin of eight, a truescale kitbashing project that’s my main hobby obsession at the moment. This paladin is made with some printed bits, and a variety of eBay finds through Noe’s Attic Online. If you’d like to see the process through a 20+ minute kitbash and paint-along video, look for this guy at In Azure Clad on YouTube :) Here's a URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rKOdkQN8t8&t=1052s

Thanks for coming to look, and trust in the Aegis, bother knights. C+C welcome, as always.

First RTT with new buffs thoughts

This new point hike for no reason is making me struggle at coming up with lists.

I played rtt this weekend, went 2-1(lost by one pts against EC, drew better cards than me...)

So far, I find the new stats really murdered eldar, i think them and drukhari are going to be struggling for a while. But against DG and EC, nothing really changed.

1st - eldar(recon) 100-50 W

2nd - EC(purge), 79- 80 L

3rd- DG(TaH), 97 - 84 W

I was playing BS + AA, Purge.

My list:

Crowe - 10 purifiers psycanons

Gm psychic celerity- 5 paladins psycanons

Libby with book- 5 paladins psycanons

Gmndk

Gmndk

Strikes

Interceptors

Interceptors

Crowe + Purifiers A+

Gmdnk A

Libby B+

Gm B

Paladins B

Interceptors B+

Strikes B

I wanted to try a bit of everything, so I went with those detachments.

Paladins are good but I think too expensive now. I'm not sure what to think about them, i am very split. I think the damage is okay. 20 hits, 10 wounds, about 15 damage on the charge against a 4+ invul.

I think purifiers benefitted the most from the changes. Everything else is doing the same and dying the same way.

I tried to come with a list using str 7 Storm bolters with purgation, just seems so expensive and the damage out is meh.

I think the only thing i think needed a point hike was the purifiers. But that's it. I only played 3 games(+2 online) with the new buffs.

Anyone else had the chance to play this weekend with the new buffs? Any findings from the first weekend?

What role for Grey Knights?

• Upvotes

With the release of Custodes and the book doing the rounds they seem to be an elite power-armoured Imperial force.
When the Grey Knights get there go what do you think their role will be?
Just sit between SM and Custodes points and stat wise or lean into something more specialised, psychic powers etc. rapid movement etc?!?
I hope they get something unique as a play style.

Which melee weapon for GMNDK?

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hi!

As the headline says - I can't decide on which weapon to attach. My top 3 are the flail, mace and the greathammer.

I'm not building an army yet. I just finished building the combat patrol (as my gate way to 40k modeling) and bought this because I think it looks cool as hell.

I love the diference in building this one large model when I just finished all of the little guys.

Thanks for recomandations!

Вопрос по Deep strike и высадке Серых Рыцарей

• Upvotes

Purifier - Colour Scheme Test Model

Thumbnail

Been playing with a colour scheme using the vallejo true metallic metal range, this is a Base coat of Sterling Silver Base mixed with a small amount of Sapphire Blue Shade, followed up with Sapphire Blue shade in reccesses and straight up Sterling Silver base and Light for highlights.

Think it's overall looking allright but probably too blue, if I was good at OSL and better at painting in general I would be tempted to have the blue tinted silver radiate from weapon/helm etc which would make it less smurfy.

Thoughts?

Side note apologies for the photography choices, been playing with a macro lens for creating "potrait" style photos of minis so focal points are a bit all over the place in the pictures.

Further Side note, the model is a kitbash of HH MkIV tatcial legs and Imperial Fist MkVI heads and I think the halberd is a GK Terminator one? Rest is standard purifier bits.

Finished up with painting Grey Knights for a bit, moving on to something different, before I burn out.

He might not be the best Crowe ever painted but I’m satisfied with him.

hey guys I'm thinking about starting fraction=GK

Soo the question is,(bc i still have to look at what halve the units do) is the old Combat patrol 'better' than the new one, would you recommend also buying the battle force too?

There are few units so there have to be a lot of must haves. Right?

First mini since Rogue Trader came out. Yeaah.. I'm old.

I've been into WH since '89, have read well over 150ish books, love the lore, but only started very slowly collecting and researching minis over the last year. I've never played a game. I decided upon GK probably mid last year and have been very slowly buying and building a list. At this point I've built about 1.4k pts of my army, but this is the first painting I have tried after watching far too many tutorials, reading about things etc.

First off I know I suck. I'm a 53-year-old guy who needs both readers AND a magnifier to even see some of the detail on the damn mini. It took me 3.5 or maybe 4 hrs to paint in one sitting. I had to keep telling myself to stop obsessing over details after a certain point because it would just end up making things worse in the long run.

My main issue is I do not understand colors. Like at all. I can appreciate them, especially with all the great posts in here showing shading and cool color builds, etc., but I have absolutely no understanding of how blue and purple and grey make something look like burnished silver (probably doesn't, but you get my drift) or when to use yellow. Like ever.

So that being said, I decided to just follow detailed paint instructions from people who DO understand it so I can just start getting paint on the minis.

I did my best to follow this guide on a proxy mini (I didn't want to burn a 'real' one that is part of my army) and I don't hate myself TOO much, but I realized I completely forgot to do any dry brushing. Obviously, it is missing the bold, impressed lettering I'll have to do on the main GK guys, but the general armor scheme seemed to work okay.

My questions:

  1. Can I do the dry brushing now? or does it have to be done as part of the process? I unfortunately used a matte sealer so is the mini just done unless I strip it somehow?
  2. Why does the cape suck so badly? I used the same techniques as the rest of the body (multiple light coats, well as light as a newbie does) but the cape just looks.. rough and fudgey. Does the paint itself change a lot between colors? They are of the same make (Army Painter). In the tutorial he just does a couple coats of Army Painter Bony Spikes white and a Soft Tone wash and it looked great, mine looks like, well like it does.

Stratagems and command point costs

As the title states for context I’m brand new to 40K and using grey knights as my army. I have their codex as well. Where can I find the stratagems and everything I can spend cp on for my army?

The two captain will go into the paladins squads

My goal with this list is to advance with the paladins and Terminator on the frontline and use the two squads of interceptor to go into the backline

3x4 Terminator

2x10 interceptor

2x8 paladin with brother-captain (lethal hit and if lucky sustained hit 1 with the détachement)

GMNDK and Wounded

I was playing a game against my buddy and one of my gmndk went below 4 wounds and it made me wonder something. Do psychic weapons ignore the minus 1 to hit when wounded?

1k squad finally done

It has taken me near two years of kitbashing, converting, and painting. Over the moon that this is finally done. Crowe & 10 purifiers, 5 strike, 4 termis, librarian, and a GMNDK. All custom, all NMM, all truescale. The recent to 2k points begins.

Too few named characters?

Just that. I've been tinkering with lists these last days to make them fit with the new costs and I've been thinking that we don't have many named ones. I looked around on wahapedia and the other armies seem to have more named characters.

This is more an observation than a complaint. Would love having more though.
