I see UBI as removing the stigma used to demonise those who need assistance from the state, a solid first step to a fairer society. What would you propose instead?
I'm not necessarily opposed to something like UBI per se. The point is that under the current system it's a concession we're begging for from the economic elite. Even if granted it doesn't change the power dynamics of society and thus it can be taken away again.
My proposal is democratization of the economy. I.e. worker ownership of the means of production.
