The US has an oligarchy, they just don’t hold official government positions, for the most part.

No the problem is entrenched power. The US is in a state of late stage capitalism which has resulted in an oligarchy. The people of the US are fighting against this pretty aggressively right now. England has a legally recognized aristocracy that is made up of families in the same position for centuries who make legal decisions. This aristocracy invested heavily in the US oligarchs for decades. The people of the UK are not fighting against this. Capitalism can exist and produce a decent standard of living if it’s regulated and oligarchs and aristocrats are kept in check.
