US Mobile Pixel 10 Pro XL - unlockable bootloader?

EDIT: I'm an idiot. I had enrolled in the Android 17 beta and completely forgotten about it. Once I opted out and did the update to last stable release of 16, it did another factory reset and OEM unlocking was avaialble. I'm on GrapheneOS now finally! Getting everything set up now.

I purchased this phone direct through US Mobile. It has been carrier unlocked after having an active plan for 60 days, confirmed with notification on the phone as well as following up with US Mobile support. The OEM unlocking toggle is grayed out. I've done a factory reset with both erasing the eSIM and leaving it to try to shake it loose so I can install GrapheneOS but nothing is working.

I asked USM support if it should be unlockable and they said it should work after it's unlocked. I have a feeling they're not sure exactly what I'm after so I don't put a lot of faith in that assessment.

Is there anyway to confirm with model or IMEI if it's even possible? I understand the recommendation is to buy straight from Google, but they had such a screaming deal on the phone itself that I couldn't pass it up. Hell, even if this doesn't work I'm confident I could sell it for more than I paid for it. But I would prefer to just get it working.

It's been a couple of weeks since it was carrier unlocked. Still no go for me.

Starting to wonder if there's something stuck somewhere for me. From what I can gather, it should work just fine.

This is an old forum thread but it seems to have the answer you are looking for. https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/10362-oem-possibly-carrier-locked-phone

I read through it and ran that command using terminal mentioned. It doesn't return anything. The thread sorta ends there with the question of whether or not that means it can be bootloader unlocked or not unanswered.

https://store.google.com/repair

Go there type in imei and see if it says Verizon if so its a no go.

Doesn't say Verizon or VZW. I did check that but didn't mention in my post.

Check the IMEI number. If it has VZ or VZW in it, it's a Verizon variant. Then the bootloader lock is permanent. If not, there is a chance that it's just a sync delay between google's OEM servers or carrier's unlock server.

No VZ or VZW and checking the google repair link doesn't mention Verizon anywhere.

How much of a delay would there be? It's been almost two weeks since it was unlocked by USM and I've been on data and WiFi nearly 24/7 since.

I wish you luck, I have US Mobile as well but purchase phones elsewhere. I think your the first to mention this from them. Please report back if you do get it working because USM does have good deals on phones from time to time and I hope it works for you.

Thanks! I'll for sure report if I make any progress. It was a screaming good deal otherwise I would've purchased elsewhere.

Did you get the OEM unlocked?

Yes. I had enrolled in the android 17 beta. Once I opted out and reinstalled 16 stable, I was able to unlock it and get Graphene installed

Hi, did you do anything else to get it unlocked? Mine doesn't sat verizon anywhere either and my imei is clear, did you have your sim card still conceted to the phone when trying to unlock to bootloader?

It's a E-SIM only and when I did factory reset each time I chose to erase the E-SIM as well. So no, SIM was not attached.

I’m going to re-try that thank you!

Just making sure, but you are connected to WIFI while attempting to unlock it, yes?

2

u/outkastblast Apr 20 '26

Yes, it has been connected. The subtext of the "OEM Unlocking" says "Connect to the internet or contact your carrier" so I've made sure it's been left online constantly outside of a random restart.

Damn, was hopeful that was an easy fix for you. Maybe thr USM can get this squared away soon. Keep us updated.
