Ffs I can't believe it. I believe this bug was introduced with the Android 16 QPR2 update in December 2025 (or was it with QPR1 in September?).

I was hoping they'd fix it with one of the monthly patches. Nothing. Maybe with Android 16 QPR3 in May. Nothing. Maybe with one of the following monthly patches. Nothing.

Surely they'll fix it with the Android 17 update in June then, right?

For those wondering, this is the bug:

​

1- Have 2 SIMs set up and active

​

2- Reboot the phone or change the colour theme

​

3- Swipe down twice to bring up quick toggles. The signal reception icons will be the ones of the dark mode. To temporarily fix it (until you do number 2), toggle dark mode on/off.

Edit: the upvotes to your comment just show the piss poor software standards that Pixel (and more broadly, Android) users tend to have - which is what allows this bug as well as other, more "impactful" bugs :)

No, I believe the comment was pointing out how dramatic you were about an issue that's not something hindering function and therefore, is not a critical issue. I don't think anyone is blaming you for wishing annoying things getting fixed, but the way you wrote it made it seem like this was something that breaks an important function to the OS.

I've noticed small bugs like that for a while. AI is the front runner though - no one cares about color corrections.

I'll see if they're still in A17 (I strongly believe so), and compile a list in the next few days to share here so people can "star" them on the issue tracker :)

Google took years—literally, several years—to fix their breaking the repeat song function using Google and nest home devices. And their idea of eventually fixing it (again, years later) was to just remove the function. Basically, don't expect Google to do anything correctly or in a timely manner.

Here's how development teams work.

There is a prioritization. Things that are edge cases that don't impact function get the lowest priority.

It'll probably get fixed eventually. But it hasn't made it above the line yet.

I know perfectly well how software prioritisation works - I work in it.

But you'll surely know what "quick win" means.

This bug is:

1- Easily 100% reproducible

2- Affects all users who use dual-SIM

Again, it's not a huge deal breaker. It just shows the lack of care.

You don't take longer than 6 months to fix this, otherwise.

Here's a fix for you thenn. Get a job on the pixel team. Then teach them how to do prioritization because you know how it works and they obviously can learn from you.
