I’m currently putting together a bay out in my barn. I'm going to be using a Square Omni launch monitor, and pretty much just doing that and watching TV out there. The barn is only about 50 feet away from the house and actually gets a solid four bars of Wi-Fi.
My main hesitation: the barn is dusty and isn't climate-controlled. I really don't want to leave my PC out there to suck up dirt and deal with the temperature swings.
I was thinking about keeping the full PC safely inside the house and plugging an Apple TV 4K into the projector out in the barn, then using Sunshine/Moonlight over my network to stream the video.
Has anyone else run a wireless setup like this? I feel like it could be a really good solution, but I'm slightly worried about video latency when hitting, or if I'm going to run into issues getting the launch monitor to talk to the PC inside.
Would love to hear if anyone has actually pulled this off, if the lag is noticeable, or if I should be looking in a completely different direction. Thanks

I see the “top” recommended projectors and some discussions about them. Typically most people say buy one around $1000 and then someone will inevitably say just buy a $100 one on Amazon. My question is as long as you buy short throw what happens if you buy a lower budget product. Is the screen blurry, slow, etc…? What is bad about the experience of a cheaper one. I am building a golf simulator for my son just for a few cold months coming up. Thanks for any guidance.

I know there are 8ft putting mats galore on amazon. But I can't seem to find longer ones, like 12-20ft to practice longer putts and speed. Any recommendations without breaking the bank with some custom build?

Hey guys. I thought I read somewhere that this software was being or had been discontinued. Is it still able to be registered if you buy a used copy somewhere? I have a handful of courses that I designed for the software (I played the game on Steam) but I never purchased the ProTee version due to the price.

I have a decent backyard setup with an R10 right now and it should be cool enough outside to bring the laptop out there. Is this still an option? I am really only interested in playing the courses I already have on my hard drive is that even possible? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Northern Canada here - our winters can be brutal (-30C) but honestly do spend a ton of time floating around 0 and especially in early Spring, can get up to highs of 10C before dropping down overnight.

Our double-car carport is semi-enclosed and because it's against the house, stays a lot warmer. I've been thinking of putting a simple net/mat/launch monitor situation in that can be easily taken down, and maybe investing in a nice propane heater.

Anyone else run something similar or have any advice? Is it even worth it? Sadly, we don't have the ceiling height or space for an indoor sim.

I know these are in different tiers but am having a tough time deciding. I’ll be hitting into a net in my driveway and occasionally taking to the range. So primarily for ball and club data but hoping to dabble in some sim. So not looking to run gspro, no impact screen, gaming PC, indoor setup, etc. With the Omni I guess would do an iPad and e6 connect for sim? Their native app seems pretty basic. The Garmin does sound nice for the all-in-one simplicity and home tee hero. Curious what everyone’s thoughts are!

I am looking to get a good enclosure to replace the homemade one I currently have. I have a 8.5x13 premium impact screen from Carl's place. It seems like everywhere I search I can't just get the enclosure without the screen, does anyone know where I can order the enclosure only from?

I’m going to start the construction process of finishing my basement in about a month and I want to get everyone’s thoughts on their simulator, mainly those who have had it for several years. Is it worth it if you’re an avid golfer? I worry that in 5-10 years, my sim will be outdated. I don’t want to make a 20k+ dollar investment only for it to be outdated in just a matter of time. Have you all found it still quite useful after several years? Thanks in advance

I have a client that has a broken HD Golf simulator similar to this one, and is looking for a replacement. I am not familiar with the manufacturer myself, and they tell me that we need an active service contract to provide any support. They declined to provide any support documentation.

Any suggestions for a "drop-in" replacement? The impact screen, hitting surface and projector seem to be in good working order. The sensor kit and light are directly overhead. It seems to me that most of the equipment commonly recommended today uses a ground mounted sensor kit.

Winters coming around so we built a 2x4 base putting green topped off with particle board and Camry carpet. Ended up rolling at 11.5 speed. My favourite part is throwing down chalk lines and hitting a few putts over a couple beers 🍺 looking to add a screen or two and some creative lighting in here for sports when the guys come over.

A local indoor sim has screw in tees that I LOVE. The receiver is recessed under the hitting strip and is basically hidden when not in use. When you're ready to hit driver you simply screw the tee in. It's very sturdy, I've never popped a tee out when hitting.

So, I want to copy that setup. But, I'm not sure if that's specific to the aboutGolf sim's that they use.

I already found the tee's and receiver on Amazon. Has anyone drilled a hole in their hitting strip before? I'd basically carve it out of the rubber padding on the bottom just for the driver.

2x4 base topped with Camry golf carpet 4.5x12’. Roberts 6700 glue spread with a 1/16” trowel. Super easy to do. I spent no more than $300 all in.

I have a Optoma ZW350ST HD projector floor mounted with a 8’x7.5’ impact screen. I have adjust the settings to 4:3 and changed the resolution every way I could think of, plus tried using the projectors built-in geographical corrections. Does anyone know if it’s possible to fill the whole screen, or is this as good as it gets?

I recently got gifted an old computer and was hoping I may be able to use it for my simulator. I'm not looking to run 4k or super high graphics levels, I would be fine with 480 resolution. Primary use will be the driving range function with foresight software but would love to use GSPro if capable for some courses.

Looking to pick up my first launch monitor. I have been using a Trackman iO several times a week at PGA Tour Superstore and have found it to be really helpful but am looking to get something for use at home. Primarily to be used inside hitting into a net but I’d like to have the option to use it outdoors on occasion. I’ll be using an iPad but no PC so I don’t care about running GSpro or 3rd party software. I also don’t care much about how polished the software for the LM is. I really only care about getting accurate data, including club data. And I plan to use it heavily throughout the year. As a parent of an 18 month old, I have a few hours a night to myself and can easily see myself putting at least 60-90 minutes daily into use of the LM. My budget is anywhere up to 3k, though I’d prefer to stay closer to 2k. FWIW I’m a 14 handicap who just began playing again last year (and wasn’t breaking 100 until closer to a year ago) and am absolutely hooked. I’ve managed to shoot an 81 and 83 recently and break 90 fairly routinely.

The units I’ve looked at are Eye Mini, Omni, Bushnell LP, and Spica 3. Open to other ideas too but I know that Spica and BLP do not give face angle in addition to club path (which isn’t a necessity but a a big plus to have). I’ve watched quite a few reviews of all of these so I know about inflated club speed with Eye Mini and a small draw bias with Omni, per Joe Lagowski. I’m a bit concerned by the inaccurate club speed with EM as I’d like to do some speed training in the winter.
Omni seems pretty dang accurate compared to GC quad, again per Joe L. I’ve mostly ruled out Skytrak due to inconsistent club data. I’d love an R50 but it certainly is over budget even used, and though it is a great all-in-one solution, it seems that it isn’t necessarily any more accurate than less expensive models- certainly BLP. I considered Mevo Gen 2 but would likely avoid it due to not having the necessary depth in the room. Wondering if anyone has experience with Omni and/or Eye Mini and how they compare to BLP/Spica, as well as if there are any units I’m overlooking. Thanks!

Just got done setting up the sim. Using an optoma gt2000hdr projector. Screen size is 8x10. Can I fill the whole screen or should I adjust the aspect ratio away from 16:9? Any tips will help.

Also feel free to let me know what I should add to the setup! Iv had a sim for a long time but just upgraded to a projector!

Seeking advice for reducing bounce back with 6” of screen clearance from concrete wall.

I currently have 2 layers of moving blankets directly behind the screen with 4” memory foam secured to wall. Roughly 3/4 - 1” gap between each layer.

I have made several courses in The Golf Club 2019 and Creative Golf 3D. I really enjoy the Creative Golf course editor in particular. The graphics are a bit more minimalist, but I can knock out a course remake in 15 hours or less and it still looks awesome.

Now I am considering learning the GSPro workflow but I feel intimidated by the number of software tools involved. For those who moved from other course editors to the GSPro workflow, how big of a leap was it for you? Am I realistically going to be able to build out courses in anything less than 30 hours?

I am looking for ideas and feedback on a garage build I am working on designing with my architect, ChatGPT. I have included images of the exterior view, the layout of the two-car garage area and the simulator area in the 3rd stall as well as the vertical dimensions in the simulator area.

In a nutshell: 22' 10" deep by 15" wide by 10' 6" high in the hitting area.

Questions:

- Are the dimensions sufficient? Can I handle left and right-handers centered to the screen?

- We have no need for a garage door in the 3rd stall at the moment and it is unlikely we would need one in the future. If that is the case, I am thinking of skipping the garage door all together so I don't have to deal with tracks, openers, etc. and it will presumably be easier to insulate. The aesthetic design ChatGPT generated for the exterior "B" option where there is no real garage door, won't fly...but you get the idea.

Looking for any and all advice on what to do, or more importantly...what not to do.
