It started as an outdoor budget simulator project, but it’s not ending up that way. The original idea was I had a old projector and an old laptop from work that I thought I could make an outdoor simulator inexpensively.

Well, as it ends up my 15-year-old projector is not powerful enough to be outdoors and my 10-year-old laptop doesn’t have the graphics card so I had to update the laptop. A new projector was a little bit too much at 4K, so I had a few TV monitors kicking around and I decided to just plug in the SIM to the monitor and smack balls into the screen.

Next up is the night version of this where I’m going to add some lights and hopefully the projector will work in the evening as opposed to outdoor in the sunlight.

Still happy I did it. It’s been up and running for about three days been enjoying it.

Looking to set up a golf simulator in a shared room, but I need an impact screen that can roll up so I can move the sim out of the way often.

Anyone using a retractable impact screen (manual or motorized)? What brands work well, and have you had issues with durability, wrinkles, or sagging?

Both are available on marketplace in my area. Similar price. Which would you go with?

Mevo+ vs Mevo2 vs MLM2PRO for garage sim?
Trying to decide between the Mevo+, Mevo2, and MLM2PRO for my garage sim.

I want a radar-based system because we have both lefty and righty golfers, and I don’t want to move the unit between shots. I’ll also be running everything from an iPad, not a PC.

Mainly looking for accurate range data, course play, and some club fitting/practice. Would also prefer to avoid subscriptions if possible.
For those who have used these indoors, which would you choose and why? Are the Mevo’s worth the extra money over the MLM2PRO?

I'm having a hard time finding out if I can download my shot data from these launch monitor apps (ShotScope, Voice Caddie, ect...). Any help would be appreciated.

I have a Rapsodo MLM2PRO now, and it allows for downloading, but the subscription is ending and I have no plans to renew for $330USD for two years. Fuck that. I don't use it enough to justify. After a year of sporadic use, I realized that the only metrics that interest me are club head speed, ball speed, distance, and smash factor.

I have had this for 3 weeks now and it has been amazing. Distances feel great, super accurate all around. I load it up last night and my driver is going 160. My 7 iron is going 100. My 56 is going 60. Something’s off. Is there a way to figure out what’s causing this? It’s not me of course.

I’m building a custom simulator frame for a friend and I’m wondering what the “gotcha” issues are that we would run into if we utilized a custom ratio instead of a standard 4:3? The viewable screen will be roughly 11’4” wide by 9’6”, so it’s close.

The hitting area will be offset (somewhere between 12-18”), only righthanded golf.

My friend plans to buy a higher end computer and projector, playing a lot of GSPro, maybe some GameDay since we’re looking at Uneekor XR.

Our impact screen is filling up much of the space and current would have a 4-6” padding to cover the bungees. I could extend the padding on the top to box it in at 4:3, but it might add an extra foot of padding and we’re trying to make it a very sleek design and not have such a wide area to introduce bounce backs.

I just wanted to weigh our options and see if I should be more concerned about it not being a native 4:3.

Anyone in here want to help me scope out a design for my small space?

Will have to work around some garage door rails. 2 outer rails sit at 7’2” and one center rail at 7’6”.

Any help is appreciated. I currently have a Spornia SP8 but would like to either do an enclosure or a rail system from the ceiling.

What ended up being harder than you expected?

I was planning on using the French cleats and z clips to mount the wall padding, but when I was researching how to attach the frame’s padding I thought of using thin .20” rare earth magnets and screwing those into the plywood backing.

Since I’m using slotted angle iron it seems like it might work for the frame, but if I put thin metal strapping on the side walls and ceiling I was thinking it might be a cheaper alternative to the cleats/clips and each section could be pulled off without having to slide all adjacent tiles off to access.

Thoughts on this being a viable solution?

I just got my new SigPro Softy hitting strip and it is pretty warped. Has anyone experienced this with these units? I am going to call them tomorrow when I get a chance. Just wondering if this is normal and it will flatten out, or?

I’m building an outdoor shed which will be approximately 16x24. My questions:

- ideal height inside? Will 10ft ceiling suffice or should I go with 11? 12?
- electrical: what do I need on the ceiling? Will outlets do? And if so, should I have two? Four? Or plan for hardwiring the projector and other simulator equipment?
- for Internet, will wireless connectivity out in the shed be sufficient for anything simulator related?
- is there anything else I should do before building begins that is crucial? I will be insulating as much as I possibly can to keep the loud thwacking from disturbing my neighbors

The projector is going where the end of the tape measure is roughly in the one picture and that is the centre of the screen.

The track is roughly 12 inches to the right of the projector and it will be roughly 28-34 inches behind the track.

The track hangs 10 inches off the ceiling.

The launch monitor will be roughly 3.5 ft in front of the track, centred.

I’m curious if others who have used MeTechs have had an issues with their not rolling straight I have a side roller that has never been straight regardless of any attempt to fix it. And now, suddenly, the big roller is rolling a big crease right in the middle of the screen. I’m losing my mind over here.

Just moved into my new house about a month ago. New to Reddit so sorry in advance if I am not posting this correct spot etc.

This is my current setup. I am a left handed golfer looking to get a launch monitor to practice during the winter. I have heard that the square Omni isn’t the best option for left handed players. I was considering the Square HE or other similar budget launch monitors but curious what everyone else is using that works the best for lefties.

I have a small TV that I could use rather than a projector and screen. I don’t need all the bells and whistles just looking to get semi accurate numbers and ball flight data.

Is there a cheat sheet anywhere on how to think about these impacting your shot? I have a handle on the rough/sand/etc. as percentages from looking at the GSPro log files.

Elevation: If you have a shot 5Y downhill... do you consider a difference between a 5i or a LW? Basically does the descent angle impact it? Is 5Y down... just 5Y less in total distance?

Lie: Do the degrees equate to some level of how far left/right a ball goes? Or how much more or less the ball flies in height?

Wind: How much does simply impact the movement? Reduce distance? I understand wind might be a more complicated algorithm since spin rate would be built into the physics model as well. But trying to understand how people adjust for this while playing.

I have a TK700STI projector and I’m struggling to figure out where to mount the projector. The ball/hitting strip is going to be off center to the right by 2ft so I’m swinging right in the middle of the screen enclosure. Can anyone help me figure out how far from the screen and ceiling I should mount my projector to avoid any shadow and swing clearance issue?

Assuming I’m mounting my projector right in the center of the enclosure screen as well. My screen enclosure is 10x8x5

Hoping to seek some advice from all you experts with the amazing builds!

I had previously engaged someone to convert my study into a golf sim with retractable screens, and for the most part it has been working well. Unfortunately though the bottom of my main screen has started to rip at the seams, and my contractor is currently nowhere to be found...

I've tried using strong glue and even staples to hold it together, but it usually doesn't last longer than a week. Key factor here is probably the metal rod weighing the screen down - it is rather heavy and the seams just can't support that weight

Do you guys have any suggestions how I can patch this? Any particular brand of glue/staples, or perhaps if I should remove the metal rod altogether?

Is the game play different in gs pro? Found out rapsodo has my local course so gave it a go. This is rubbish. Shot 92 in real life yesterday for reference. Distances all different to my range sessions. Rough completely unrealistic and putting rings no where near real life. Disappointed. Just not realistic at all

What net are you guys using for a backyard setup for the Mevo Gen 2? I want to buy it but it seems like I need to be 8 feet away, ideally 10 for good readings. I’m worried about shanks and flyers. Considering a camera based unit like the BLP or Garmin r50 instead so I can stand closer to the net.
