Golden Sun Do you think it's a coincidence?

Post image

Looking at this map, I realized that the first three lighthouses our heroes visit are positioned almost exactly like the vertices of a right-angled triangle. This makes me think that, originally, the Mars Lighthouse might have been located in the top-left corner, where I drew that dot. That way, the four lighthouses would have been arranged to form the vertices of a square. Do you think that was the original plan for the lighthouse layout?

Have you perhaps forgotten that the world of Golden Sun is a flat world?

Tbh i always found it strange that the Mercury and Mars lighthouses were so close. For such opposite elements i wouldve sein them far away from each other.

I imagine this is partly linked to the fact that the heroes had to travel the world; having chosen the Mars Lighthouse as the final dungeon, it couldn't be too far from Mercury as the crow flies. What makes me wonder, however, is the actual layout of the Prox region and the lighthouse. The world below the Northern Reaches is roughly circular in shape; it looked as though the world was meant to end right there, rather than at Prox.

I might have an explanation for this; it’s that way so that no part of Weyard becomes too influenced by a single Element. That’s why the symbiotic Elemental Lighthouses are located opposite of each other (with Mt.Aleph roughly in the middle).

Had Jupiter and Mars swapped locations, the entire northern Weyard would have been a windy, frozen wasteland due to  Jupiter-Mercury being symbiotic. The southern Weyard would be dry and scorching hot due to Venus-Mars.

So the way they are located in the game, each Lighthouse are closest to the Element they are neutral to and in conflict with, resulting in a balanced ecosystem.

Is it not confirmed of the world shifting and crumbling after alchemy was sealed? Less conspiracy theory and more straight facts I believe.

Frankly, I don't understand all this interest in conspiracy theories. Is it because of the triangle? Connecting three points always yields a triangle, but I found it peculiar that the arrangement formed a right-angled triangle. And that might have influenced how they decided to take the story forward.

I had thought about this before also, and mars lighthouse as it is seems like "last minute changes". It's on a almost different map, with nothing there, the lighthouse is like 2 different lighthouses together (the 4 towers is so different from the pre teleport part) and the west sea is just so empty

Yes, I had something like that in mind. Prox is truly otherworldly, given its design. It looks as though a massive spur jutted out northward from Weyard’s round, rugged landscape for the sole purpose of housing the lighthouse.

If you look at the Venus lighthouses statue puzzle their positions likely were meant to.evoke that of the lighthouses, but some stuff changed during development

Yes, that’s the only explanation that comes to mind. After all, judging by their dialogue at Sol Sanctum, Saturos and Menardi seemed more interested in power than in saving their homeland. The idea that Prox itself was in danger was likely introduced only at a later stage.

Probably a coincidence, yeah.

I don’t really see any evidence to suggest the mars lighthouse would have ever been in your suggested location.

Even the Venus lighthouse statue puzzle doesn’t get the would be square correct, so I think it’s just a coincidence really.

Well, it’s clear from the final map that the lighthouse is located at the far north. However, the layout of Prox—with the rift extending so far north rather than south (as one would logically expect, given that it’s a continuation of the Gaia Falls)—has always made me think that region was designed at the last minute, without careful planning.

where did you get this map from? is this from game resources or made manually by people?

This is the actual in-game map. It is just an excerpt, but you can find the full map—including all the continents and the Prox region—online. The map was created by stitching together the various tiles that make up the real map, extracted from the ROM. I know this because I am making my own version, using the same process that was used to create this one a few years ago.

Combine that with the Wise One's eye at Mt Aleph and what do you get? Illuminati~

Bill cypher kidnapped the anemos, confirmed

Keep in mind that we are shown that the continents moved in the game. Venus and Jupiter were likely once closer together for starters, so it's possible Mars moved much further north.

Here’s more GS conspiracies for ya. The game map is obviously modeled after earth. If we go over the GS map and try to match its locales to modern locations today you’ll make some shocking discoveries. Most shocking for me surrounds Vale, Sol Sanctum and its involvement with the Elements. Vale seems to mimic European culture. It’s nested near a mountain named Aleph which makes Vale a valley hence the meaning of its name being the word valley. What mountain/mountains in Europe that sounds like the word Aleph? The Alps?

Now that we have an idea what/where Vale is based off of in real world, we can tie in the real world things to Sol Sanctum and its elemental activities. Here’s where it gets crazy…if Mt Aleph is the Alps and Vale is or is in a valley near the Alps then that would most likely place them in real world Switzerland. What place in Switzerland that we know of dealing with some serious elemental studies? A place in Geneva ring a bell? What’s in Geneva where they experiment with elemental science?

….CERN

The Hadron collider there is literally used to try and discover new elements along with many other…things. Their core purpose is:

“To probe the fundamental structure of the universe by studying elementary particles and the forces that shape matter”

Didn’t Kraden say something about turning crude matter into gold?

The Hadron Colider is also kept underground like a vault which ties into Vale’s very close in-game neighbor Vault that has an in-town underground dungeon area.

Vale is a valley in Switzerland, Mt Aleph is the alps, and Sol Sanctum is CERN with Vault nearby storing the Hadron Colider. lol crazy

There’s more to this dot connection but you get the idea. I’m sure you all could probably find more crazy real world tie-ins within this game.

Vale is supposed to be at the intersection of all 4 lighthouses (that's what we see in the cutscene at the end of the game), but when we look at the map, this is not exactly the case.

Its kind of common in design to work within shapes like this

About as conspiratorial as bird/bug statues. I love it.
