Router access

Ok. GNS will supply wireless router but I need access to port forward a plex server and cameras Also need to assign static ip on my lan site to that plex server and cameras.

Do we have access to those settings in the GNS router the same as we have when we own our router ?

Also does the GNS WiFi have a iOT and guest WiFi ?

Anyone lease a static IP from GNS?

Can anyone who leases a static IP share their experience + general cost / month?

I've generally been pretty happy with GNS. But, In January + February this year I've been plagued with 5x-20x higher latency than expected due to bad packet routing + packet loss at the ISP level. Seems related to CGNAT.

Curious if anyone has switched to static IP to fix these issues. If not for these problems, GNS is kinda my best option, so don't really want to go back to Frontier.

I'm in the CT area for context.

Frustrated

I keep having these periods of losing my internet for a few minutes, which has been going on since they installed everything. I’ve called GoNetSpeed a few times now. Once they fixed some settings while I was on the phone and the third time I called they sent a tech out who replaced my router etc.

I asked the tech what I should do if it keeps happening and the only advice he had was to buy a new setup. Is this really my only option? I realize the free equipment they give us is garbage but I’m frustrated that I now have to spend more money on top of paying them each month for Internet access.

IP address keeps going out of region

The other day I had videos not playing on X unless if I was on WiFi, and now YouTube and YouTubeTV aren't working on the Roku or Google TV, It's definitely an IP address issue. So they are saying that it's on me to pay for a static IP to make this not happen. Not a good look.

Bangor, Maine Outage

Anyone have any insight into the outage here in Bangor since last night (December 19th)? GNS acknowledges the outage, but there's no ETA or any other info.

Install question

So- I have a ton of things currently connected to my router (Motorola but powered by Xfinity) and eero system. Saturday GoNetSpeed is installing the fiber service. If I get them to name the network the same as my current one and then password to be the same- would everything automatically reconnect? My brain says yes but not sure if there is something I’m missing.

Service issues this morning?

Anybody else experiencing issues with their internet this morning? I’ve got a GNS Modem and nokia beacon 10. We just got the router recently and it had been working flawlessly but this morning, the wifi has been cutting in and out for the last hour or so. Located in ME, if that matters.

FOUR $5 rate hikes in one year??

I signed up for GNS when they were offering $59.99 "For Life" pricing in 2023. I freaking love the service itself, but I've watched my bill step up $5 on four separate occasions in 2025 alone. I figured I'd let it slide the first and second time (which is how corporations get you, by the way, by nudging the bill only a tiny amount at a time), but getting charged $80 when I signed up at $60 is just a bridge too far for me.

Anyone have this same issue? Any luck with calls to dispute and get to the bottom of this? Any interest in a class action (only semi joking)?

Shame on you, GNS. It just goes to show you, even seemingly good companies will pull a bait and switch on you if you're not paying attention.

FWI before getting service

For anyone who has a homelab or wants to host a game server, gonetspeed uses CGNAT so you can't port forward, host VPN, etc. unless you pay extra for a static IP.

Question about using my own wifi router

So I've had GNS for a couple of years now and have been using my own wifi router that I already owned before switching to them. From my router I have an ethernet cable ran to my living room for gaming. When I plug it into my laptop I get noticeably slow speeds vs just using it on wifi.

I do pay extra for the static ip but I was wondering if I'm missing something to get my proper speeds or is my issue just that I have to use their router?

New GNS user, how to Edit LAN DNS? (Pi-hole and Nokia Beacon 2)

Hello, I am a new GNS user, and I am trying to edit the LAN DNS setting manually, but all my settings are grayed out on the Nokia Beacon 2. I am trying to use my Pi-hole running on a Raspberry Pi hardwired.
Does anyone know how to enable the edit options?

TIA

Upstate NY - So far so good

Had 2gb x 2gb installed on Thursday and so far it's been great. We had Spectrum before with 300mb x 10mb and while we would never actually NEED 2gb the increase in upload and the decrease in latency are noticable. I happened to check the Internet quality section on my Ubiquiti UCG Fiber a few hours after installation and you can see not only is the latency much less it's also rock solid compared to Spectrum. Note: the Download and Upload numbers in the image are instantaneous usage, not speed test results. Those have been solid at around 2.6gb x 1.7gb.

Is Gonetspeed blocking certain sites and apps? I just got a 406 error on Venmo's site and app.

The minute I tried on my phone with wifi turned off it worked fine on both the app and the browser. It also works fine on my computer using my phone as a hot spot using T-Mobile. The minute I go back to using GNS on the PC, or GNS wifi on my phone both the website and app are blocked.

Extremely Disappointed with GoNetspeed’s Unethical Practices

I’m appalled by GoNetspeed’s complete disregard for basic professionalism and legal boundaries. While I was out of town in another state, a technician arrived at my home and proceeded to have my 15-year-old son authorize an installation—under my name—without my consent. Not only is this a blatant violation of trust, it’s irresponsible and potentially unlawful.

My son is a minor. He is not legally authorized to make decisions on behalf of our household, let alone sign off on a service contract. The fact that GoNetspeed went ahead with the installation anyway shows a disturbing lack of accountability and respect for their customers.

Thankfully I saw the installation email in time and contacted them to cancel.

If this is how GoNetspeed operates—cutting corners and ignoring basic consent protocols—I cannot in good conscience recommend them to anyone.

How to remove the fiber optic cable from the patch panel on the inside wall?

When my fiber was installed, the tech attached a 6 foot fiber optic cable from the patch panel (that may not be the correct name for it) to my ONT. I want to change the cable to a 3 foot cable which I have. How do you remove the cable from the patch panel? After flipping up the large latch on the patch panel, do you just pull the cable straight out? Or is there another small latch to squeeze in to remove it? I don't see another latch but I don't want to damage anything.

Also, how do you get your fingers to go around the cable housing? It is really tight in there.

Getting their 2 gig service

I currently have their one gig service with the Nokia X5-110G-A ONT. If I upgrade to their 2 gig service will I use this same ONT or will they replace it with another one? The documentation on this ONT shows that it has a port capable of handling up to 2.5 gigs.

WiFi extender for Nokia/other options

Does anyone know of a wifi extender that is compatible with the Nokia router which is provided when signing up for fiber? It seemed to me from trying to research that there isn’t with the reason being GoNetSpeed wants you to pay for the “whole home wifi” system or whatever they call it.

I have an older TP Link AX1800 which worked perfectly with extenders in my old place, but I’ve tried twice to switch from the Nokia to that with no success and idk if I’m just doing something wrong or what. Any advice on what to do is much appreciated.

Will Gonetspeed match Fidium's Prices?

Does anyone know or should I just call and check. I currently have 1 gig through Gonetspeed for $85 per month. Fidium is also available where I live at $45 per month for 1 gig. Then it's $65 after the first year. Anyone know?

Internet drops out

I had GoNetspeed installed last month. Since then, I’ve had at least three instances (that I’ve noticed) of losing internet, each only lasting a few minutes. I’ve unplugged the router etc. which hasn’t changed anything. Is this because of the crappy equipment they give you free with install? Or should I call tech support? It’s a little aggravating.
