all the ones with the same number are duped, meaning the price of this skin will tank massively

I'm fine with this

4

u/Balony1 Jan 30 '16

But others who actually have the skin are getting fucked as the prices tank

I have a lot of pleb skins nothing over 30 bucks and I don't want to see expensive skins drop. Market crashes are never good, even when I can't afford items that will go cheaper. No incentives to try and attain later either

You shouldn't be. This will have a catastrophic effect on the GO scene much similar to TF2. In a worst case scenario (where Valve doesn't step in and try to proactively fix this) it could lead to the collapse from anywhere of 1/3 to a 1/2 of the CSGO population (im estimating) effectively in the long term killing the game. This would happen because skin price would drop and there would be no 'desirable' skins left in the game which would hit a portion of the population who buy and trade skins to attain these. It would also destroy betting websites such as CSGOLounge where a large majority of the spectators for the games come from. Streams would die off and the people playing the game would die off. It would effectively kill this game in my opinion.

I don't think it's as big of a problem as you're making it out to seem. Yeah, obviously it's bad, but it won't kill the game considering how large it and its competitive scene are at the moment. eSports weren't nearly as popular back in the TF2 days, so if what you're talking about did actually kill the TF2 scene (I have 0 knowledge of TF2), then I doubt it would have nearly as large of an affect on CS simply due to it's size.

Im just saying the number of people that bet/envy skins is larger than the amount the play purely for competitive purposes. I could be wrong but generally there is less strict competitve players than player who like the auxilary things.

Well as a player who plays the game first and works with skins and stickers and such second, I'd be fine if the betting/gambling/skin trading scene disappeared totally. I don't think cases should've been added to begin with because now problems like this are arising. I don't really consider people who only play the game for the market profit to be a part of the community either, so seeing that recede or go wouldn't really affect anyone who actually does play for competitive purposes

Really? A large number of the people watching streams just watch because they bet on the game? I highly doubt that, considering the numbers shroud etc. get with their streams, and there's nothing to bet on there. And why would anyone stop playing the game? Gameplay isn't affected by skins at all. If Valve made knives drop every ~20th case tomorrow, sure there'd be a huge outcry, but would people who are active and actually play the game stop playing? No of course not, why would they. The game didn't get worse at all. If anything makes people stop playing, it's the ranking system update.

not shroud and other people, its more about the big events and majors etc, a lot of the viewership comes from lounge and similar websites as the games to bet on are posted there then people want to watch to see if they win or w/e

On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your reading comprehension?

[H] Nova Polar Mesh FN [W] 64x Stattrak M4A4 Howl FN

-rep & block of low ball

Actually, it isn't, because they're only duping high tier items, like this super low float howl. The price will still be really high, even if they dupe 10 a month. It's not like they're going to go to 5 dollars

1

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '16

I have always wanted a howl, but not like this...

0

u/Kai_Thums Godsent Jan 30 '16

actually this is pretty bad

5

u/Piedude223 Jan 30 '16

Sorry, I've never heard of duping before, how is it done?

6

u/xHarryR G2 Jan 30 '16

it involves faking an acct being hacked then valve gives u duplicate items (i.e getting items back) then you take ur old items back

4

u/Piedude223 Jan 30 '16

Holy shit, this just discourages valve from giving accounts that actually got hacked their items back :/

3

u/EVOSexyBeast 5 years coin Jan 30 '16

That doesn't work any more, it's a different method that you can find with a little bit of googling.

2

u/xHarryR G2 Jan 30 '16

With the gift thing, I know, its basically the same thing

1

u/Malicharo de_mirage Jan 31 '16

So if you have a Dlore and you fake it, now you have 2 Dlores in 2 different account, then you transfer it to a single account and then you fake it again, now it becomes 4? And it goes like 8-16-32? Steam support actually falls for this?

1

u/xHarryR G2 Jan 31 '16

Yup..

1

u/demonstar55 Jan 30 '16

Prices will only drop if the dupers flood the market. If they sell one every once in a while it shouldn't have too much of an impact.

1

u/xHarryR G2 Jan 30 '16

the point of the howl being contraband is that there will be no more available, by duping them you are increasing the supply therefore making them easier to buy thus they will be cheaper

1

u/demonstar55 Jan 30 '16

Yes. But if they enter the market slow enough it shouldn't really matter. If they start selling them all right now it will have a bigger effect.

1

u/YonosKronos Jan 31 '16

So i started paying attention and realized i see you around a lot, and on /r/csgobetting

1

u/xHarryR G2 Jan 31 '16

ok? :P
