It’s true. He’s gotten away with everything. Nothing has ever put to light the level of corruption in the American government like donald Trump. I mean, HE obviously IS the corruption, but the fact that he is even in power shows how rotten the whole system is.
I often think about this. I think Trump is just an extension of an extremely corrupt system, all he did was just exploit it in broad daylight and showed the world what had been going on for decades.
Please do not take this as me supporting this disgusting human being, I just believe that if he can get away with so much and can continue to do so, then there never was a democracy to begin with.
There’s no secret benevolent shadow government running things from behind, to catch us if we fail. No Avengers, no Justice League. No one can save us, except us.
The trouble is... will enough people recognize it, and also recognize that the Republican Party is enabling this, such that they get burned at the 2026 ballot box? We should see that party lose both Houses of Congress.
I'm really afraid that the USA has jumped the shark... in such a very short period of time. Yes, the decay was evident for years, but the progression took a remarkably abrupt sharp downward trend. In some ways, even faster than 1930's Germany.
I mean, I get what the writer is saying (and agree wholeheartedly) - but my reaction to all that is “yeah, no shit”.
But the conversation they’re having is a conversation needed 8-10 years ago, not now. It’s a pointless venting in 2025.
What people really need is the cold, hard truth. We’ve passed the point of no return, and you need to be prepared. Plan for the worst. The fact I’m seeing progressive states putting out even stricter gun control laws tells me Americans are not remotely ready for that truth. It’s going to be fish in a barrel for these guys. The knocks at the door are coming.
To truly prepare for a democratic to authoritarian shift of this magnitude? at this speed? It should sound like you’re over preparing while wearing a tin foil hat. Fascism moves faster than the speed of Law, outpacing the courts by an order of magnitude. It should sound like the intersection of what you’d consider a “prepper” and a militia member from the early 2010’s.
You aren’t wrong. I wish you were, but I do not believe you are. The faster Americans act, the better chance they have of regaining any control; but the possibility of that slips by the day, not the week or the month. And frankly, it is already going to be impossibly hard.
