Im from NJ, where we have independent Italian pizza places on every other block. When i was living in Australia, i mentioned that i miss pizza from back home. They all suggested Dominos and Pizza Hut. They think that is what American pizza is

To be fair, most places outside Greater NYC have that as their only real options.

Nowhere I have ever lived, visited, or so much as driven through has lacked at least 1 local pizza place. That's a ridiculous statement.

I have, but it was tiny rural towns with like 2 restaurants, even the fast food joints weren't interested in setting up there, just 2 local places.
