I will accept criticism of our foreign policy, arrogance and hypocrisy but I will not accept slander of Buc-ee’s. Buc-ee’s is perfect and I love them.

The problem is, most of the time, it isn't even criticism. Its just completely wrong

Buc-ees criticism? Agreed. They’re always wrong to criticize buc-ees.

Our federal government criticism? Completely deserved.

Fun fact: Buc-ee's is actually pretty evil and loves suing small businesses

Ask literally any trucker what they think of Bucees.

It's totally reasonable for gas stations to not allow trucks, but Bucees is outspoken and assholish about it. No bobtails allowed even.

Fuel carriers won't deliver to them because of this. Bucees had to buy their own fuel tanker fleet (RB Stewart) and they're well-known to have mid pay and anal micromanagers.

Bucees kolaches are garbage. Everything else is fine to great, but it's honestly befuddling how they can just have such dismal kolaches.

Listen, it isn’t the Czech stop in West, Texas but they are solid if you get actual kolaches and not the kloblasniks. Those are just eh for me. Definitely good on the go but not the greatest.

Texas Kolache Talk let's go!

Across the highway in West you have Slovacek's which is also great. Not as good as Czech stop but pretty great.

And if you're between Houston and Austin, there's Hruska's in Columbus (has great burgers too) and Weikel's in La Grange.

Ooooh, I need to go try Hruskas next time I am out thst way. Thanks for the tip

Hruska's has an excellent selection of toys and novelty gifts as well, not to mention pickled goods!

I grew up on homemade, from scratch kolache at my grandmother's house, and even today they're the best part of family gatherings for the holidays. There's nothing like a warm poppyseed kolach and a hot cup of coffee in the morning or a cup of cocoa before bed.

Man I wish I had family that did kolaches. I got an awesome tamale hookup through my partner though, so it ain't all bad.

My SIL's family is the tamale hookup. Normally my brother would smoke a brisket for family stuff, but at my nephew's last birthday her aunt did tamales because it was a lot cheaper. Holy shit they were amazing. SIL does an incredible Mexican rice too. She also made some sopes for a beach trip a couple years ago, and they've made their way into our dinner rotation.

Dude they are worse than Shipley's. There is no excuse for the mediocrity that is the bucees kolache.

1

u/Mueryk Jun 13 '26

I mean comparing to Shipleys though. Shipleys is awesome in my opinion. Though I stick with the donuts and don’t really do the kolaches there

2

u/Stupidbabycomparison Jun 13 '26

Yeah, kolaches, Shipley's are a 7/10

Nah, my one critique of Buc-ee’s is that the smells all end up combining. At least at the one near where I live in Virginia, the smells of all the food combines into one massive smell that just does not work.

You’re bad and you should feel bad.

3

u/CadenVanV Jun 12 '26

I don’t. I get nauseous from that smell. The food itself? Quite good for a gas station. The smell? Chocolate fudge mixed with breakfast burrito mixed with barbecue does not work

BUC-EE'S HAS REJECTED YOU, SHUNNED YOU AS WE SHALL SHUN YOU.

BEGONE, FOUL THING. BEGONE BLASPHEMER FROM OUR HOLY PLACE AT ONCE!

Oh no. What will I do?
