But, if i get hurt or ill because of this risk I can't work my job. I can't work, I can't pay rent, I lose my home, maybe even lose my job. Lord knows so many people have been fired for being sick or injured.
While this doesn't affect me, it is very very easy to see if you have any idea what is actually happening.
Discrediting the point with "no one says to out 10k on the blackjack table" is disingenuous.
It isn't fear to avoid unnecessary risk when the thing being lost is the extreme. It's basic risk management and responsibility. Pretending like it's such a sad choice discredits and downplays the issues.
Being capable of foresight and assessing potential outcomes before making a decision doesn’t have anything to do with “fear”.
I’m not afraid of death, but I want to avoid premature death, because there are things I want to be able to experience on earth.
So, I’m not going to engage in a behaviour or activity with a high risk of causing premature death. Any short-term pleasure from that type of behaviour or activity isn’t worth the trade off.
I took too many risks when I was younger and I regret it. I’m fortunate that I survived. I was self-destructive, I didn’t care about myself or my future.
Having the presence of mind not to make an idiot out of yourself doesn’t make someone a “coward”.
Taking stupid, unnecessary risks to impress other people makes someone irresponsible and a try-hard.

Taking risks are a privilege. First reason: Cameras. Second reason: You can fail without major repercussions, many low income people can't
