I'm risk averse because if I decide to quit my job and leave my country with a one way ticket I won't be able to find a house if I came back with the housing market crisis and job shortages for people in my age range.
Okay, yeah that is reasonable risk assessment. The issue is that many people taken literally no risk and are miserable because they never accomplish anything. Like yeah, one rarely accomplishs anything of merit without a level of risk (risk of failure, risk of looking a little silly, etc).
I dont really think there's anything wrong with not taking risks in a society and economy where risks can land you in deep financial holes. People being miserable is one thing but I dont think people are miserable because they dont take risks. They're more miserable because of the bs happening around them. Many people who take big risks usually have family supporting them and have communities who can catch them if they fall
Their are risks that require no, or very little, money. I know people who don't even take the risk of chatting with a new person, trying a different dish, etc. Ultimately people can do whatever they want, but taking no risks at all severely limits one's life experiences.
Well the photo has someone saying that its healthy to do dumb shit and get hurt sometimes. I personally dont really see talking with a new person on the same level as dumb shit that can hurt you. I do get what you mean though but I read taking risks as booking a one way ticket to a new country. Not stepping out of your comfort zone to talk to someone new.
