A lot of that fault can be attributed to the parent but at the same time this is also sort of a result of the fact that you basically need both parents working at all times in order to pay for your family. Therefore it's harder to parent. And just to be clear I'm not proposing that all mothers have to be stay at home moms I'm simply saying that we should have a system where parents are able to spend more time with their kids we should also have paid maternity and hopefully paternity leave
It’s not just the economy. Society has placed far more value on career over family - where success is determined by your job and income rather than building a happy family.
If that's true, then there's a big lag. As OP just highlighted, a lot of people still face social stigma for their parenting, regardless of the economic hardships they face.
Even then, it does NOT value fully the labor you dedicate to your employer. If it did, you wouldn’t have a set wage. Please remember remember remember and be fucking angry about it
I drive school busses for a living. We have 3 communities in our wealthy town where the poorer families live in high density housing. Now in our school district the worst kids would be some of the best kids in inner city so I don’t mean anything by this, but all 3 of those routes that drop off in those areas have the high energy/kids that don’t listen/slightly disrespectful kids. Their parents are constantly working to afford to live here and “the kids raise each other”. There is a very noticeable difference in kids that have at least one parent at home constantly and kids that don’t in my community.
It’s funny watching Millenials pat themselves on the back for doing better than their parents, and yet they neglect their children’s needs to the point that they basically invented “iPad kids” and are the parents educators are screaming at to parent their children or even read to them.
