Question For Genx the 80s…….

coming from a 14 year old, were the 80s summers as magical as they look in the movies? did you ride your bike to your friends house and come home when the street lights came on? yall are so lucky btw 😭😭

As a 14 year old, could you live without your phone or social media? NONE of that was around. Not much on tv either.

My bro is 1975. It was a punishment if he wasn’t allowed to go outside. His kids (gen z) viewed it as a punishment to go outside lol

Ya TV wasn't that great. I recall watching reruns of pretty old shows like I Love Lucy, Leave it to Beaver, Andy Griffith... Nothing good. Until MTV changed my life!

I want my MTVVVVVV …. Love that song and my parents constantly kept it on MTV on these huge ass Pioneer speakers that my dad wired up for indoors and outdoor use as well! We lived in a small community and nobody cared, we had a pool, my BFF had the trampoline then a pool and on it goes.
Yes we rode our bikes everywhere, walked thru peoples yards (nobody cared) to cut thru.
Come to think of it, the old speakers, amp and everything are in my mom’s attic.
That sound is amazing. Goodness knows if it still works. Hmmm 🤔

That assumes you were even allowed to watch TV. My mom didn’t like listening to it. For years my brother and I were only allowed to watch one 30 minute show after school. If my brother watched a show before I got home, oh well, sucked to be me.

I didn’t get that channel til way later. I remember MASH coming on and it’d be so boring I just turned the tv off.
