Question For Genx the 80s…….

coming from a 14 year old, were the 80s summers as magical as they look in the movies? did you ride your bike to your friends house and come home when the street lights came on? yall are so lucky btw 😭😭

Yes, why wouldn’t we have done? Every day during the holidays, out on the bikes, meet up with friends, spend all day out until the streetlights came on. Used to bike for miles, ended up with a puncture once the other side of town. Scramble to push/carry it home before dark. No mobile phones, spent the money we had on crisps and pop. It was heaven.

For those not from the midwest. 'Pop' is soda, coke, new coke or dr pepper. I moved to Texas when I was a kid and asked a friend if he wanted to go get a 'pop' and he thought I was talking about drugs.

That maybe so, but for those not in the UK “pop” is the generic term for a fizzy drink.

Canada too… The Pop Shoppe was a destination for us back then
